Grand Hotel Villa Politi 1862 In Siracusa

What I probably dislike the most is the communication between the staff and the customers. Ask them to repeat in English and still only in Italian. But otherwise everyone is nice and the lady at the pool bar is always smiling and a pleasant person :) Breakfast not much and the restaurant in the hotel - we have had better food

Very friendly staff and they made us feel very welcome. beautiful location and lots of green around us. Beautiful trees and views. Pool had a good temperature and is very relaxing. Would definitely come again!

This is a beautiful iconic hotel very close to the old centre of the beautiful town of Siracusa. It is only a 5 minute drive (or a 20 minute walk) to the Siracusan island of Ortigia. The bedroom was very nicely renovated and was very comfortable and clean. Parking on the Hotel's grounds is a big plus. The breakfast was a bit lacking and can be very simply improved. Parts of the hotel, while still looking grand and beautiful, can do with renovation. Overall, very pleased with our stay, lovely team and would highly recommend. We have been in many hotels in Siracusa and this one is hard to beat.

Top marks for the reception staff: Mr. Simone and all his colleagues, all very kind and efficient.

The receptionist Simone was very sarcastic when I said that it was our 30th marriage anniversary. He said we can do only congratulate you, nothing more, smiling ironically…

If you are tired of the convenience but uniform service of chain hotels, I highly recommend this hotel. The old-fashioned style remains, so it is even more fun to look at. There is an aperitivo with unlimited cocktails and snacks for 10 euros per person, and the pool towel rental fee is 10 euros, but they give you margherita as a service. There is sparkling wine for breakfast!! There is a vacant lot next to the hotel, so you can park for free, which is rare in Europe. Every time I spent at this hotel was fantastic.

Lives on the good old days. The entrance area and breakfast room are impressive. However, we were ignored for minutes at check-in. A young man and a young woman remained sitting behind the reception desk until a hotel guest came with a request. After that, the lady finally addressed us. A sparse greeting and information about the hotel. To top it all off, despite the hotel being at minimum capacity, we were given the smallest, darkest, and most remote room. Small window with a view of the hotel's garbage dump. No space for suitcases, clothes, etc. Some of the sockets didn't work, and the shower door was out of its lock. Air conditioning was loud. No place to linger longer than necessary. The vending machine at breakfast was undrinkable. The pool area is very nice, but unfortunately the crowd is sometimes loud and unpleasant. The location is too far away to explore Ortigia on foot. It's about a 25-minute walk to the harbor, through an ugly area with no shops, cafes, etc., which resembles a favela. All in all, a bit disappointing.
