This place was advertised to us as one of the best in the area. Perhaps our expectations were a little too high, but we found the value for money to be poor. Too expensive for the quantity of food offered, and the quality wasn't spectacular either. Very pleasant atmosphere.

Good food, but the wrong meat and chaotic service I went to Restaurant Giacomo and honestly expected more. After ordering, a portion arrived that I thought must be a joke. The menu said "Beef" – which, to me and everyone else, clearly means beef. The server then explained to me in Italian that in Italy, "beef" can also refer to different types of meat. To me, that sounded more like an excuse, especially since I had specifically asked before ordering how large the portion was and whether the meat was good. The answer was "yes" – but in the end, they served pork instead of beef. I sent that back. On top of that, I asked three times for a sweet wine, which I wanted to have with dessert – as is customary in Italy. The server explained to me that it's only served after dinner and didn't want to bring it to me beforehand. However, in my opinion, it should be my decision when to drink the wine. The food itself was delicious, but the main course didn't satisfy me. Finally, I received an incorrect bill: instead of €88, I was charged €126. This was corrected at the counter before I paid, but it shouldn't have happened.

Luckily, we, even the unruly clog-walkers, were still welcome at this lovely restaurant. Near the top of a high mountain in the woods. Delicious dishes, often generously garnished with truffles, are served on a pleasantly cool terrace. Honest and flavorful cuisine. A compact but excellent wine list. Friendly service. You can also take the wines home. In short, highly recommended!

We've been calling this the Truffle Restaurant for years because they have so many delicious dishes with (almost excessively) fresh truffles. Truly delicious!

Giacomo al Saltino is a summer classic in Florence, a great escape from the city heat and a lovely restaurant where you can indulge in mushroom and truffle dishes. The fried porcini mushrooms are a must-try.

Lunch with a fixed menu, good value for money, recommended!

A Sunday in July, looking for refreshment... What could be better than a restaurant in Vallombrosa, Saltino? An experience definitely worth repeating. Excellent food, friendly staff, and the owner, who went out of their way to get us a table for four without a reservation, at 1 pm. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We'll definitely be back.
