Gelato Marco – Hands-down the best gelato in Trieste! (May 2025)
After reading dozens of reviews before our trip, Gelato Marco was the clear winner… and it completely lived up to the hype! The queue stretching down Via Malcanton is the first clue you’re in the right place. Creamy, intense flavours (the pistachio is pure green gold, the chocolate extra-dark and decadent, the fruit sorbets taste like they were made five minutes ago). Generous portions, friendly service even when it’s packed, and prices that feel almost too fair for this quality. We were 4 and tried 10 flavours – every single one was perfection. If you only have gelato once in Trieste, make it here. Worth every second of the wait!

Very busy with a ticketing system. You can only taste two flavours. The mango flavour was very light. The pistachio soft serve flavour was even lighter. The creaminess of the ricotta pistachio was great, complemented with pistachio paste. It was almost a stressful dining experience because of the ticketing system and there wasn't enough seating outside for everyone to enjoy their ice cream. The servers seemed impatient and weren't overly friendly, probably because they have a backlog of customers to get through. There seemed to be only locals ordering ice cream.

Best ice cream I've ever had!! The tiramisu ice cream is amazing!
The scoops are large and only €2 each, and there are so many amazing, unusual flavors. Plus, delicious ice cream flavors and sundaes.

Artisanal gelato shop with excellent gelato and great service. I really appreciate the toppings on some flavors, both on the scoop and in the tub to take home! A huge selection, gelato for every need, and generous portions. They also make delicious birthday ice cream cakes. The staff is friendly and always smiling. There can sometimes be long lines, but by grabbing a number at the entrance, you won't run into any hassles. Recommended.
