Usually, when I think of Gelateria La Romana, I know I'm on the safe side, and it's no coincidence that there's almost always a line outside, a sign of a solid and popular offering. Their Milanese locations (like the ones on Viale Col di Lana or Viale Pasubio) are benchmarks for classic artisanal gelato. This time, I wanted to try the gelato made in collaboration with Netflix, choosing the special flavor inspired by Zerocalcare's "Strappare lungo i bordi," a sour cherry parfait that looked promising. In theory, the idea of ​​such a unique flavor tied to a successful product is a winning one and demonstrates attention to trends. Unfortunately, the execution didn't live up to expectations and the brand's name. I immediately noticed that the gelato was too melty, a clear sign of problems with temperature management or freezing. This flaw, combined with a hasty and careless placement on the cone, caused my gelato to fall almost immediately. A real shame, because it had great potential. In conclusion, La Romana remains a reliable choice for classic flavors, but the episode with the special edition makes me think there was a misstep in the preparation or serving of that specific product. I hope it was an isolated incident. I'll return to reaffirm its excellence, but with a more traditional choice.

Leaving our accommodation, we passed by Gelaterie La Romana. Inside, we could smell the pleasant aroma of roasted cinnamon. There were all kinds of delicacies on display as the offer of the month. We saw that there was a line, which was an encouraging sign, but we continued on. Then we went past it on the way back, and then turned back again because we couldn't bear not to try the place, because I was in the mood for some crepes (Crépes). It was 11 at night. The service was very fast and kind. The October offer was Crépes del Mese, which was a pancake filled with three scoops of pumpkin ice cream and topped with cinnamon crisp. Well, it was a real work of art. It's from a fairy tale! :) I don't know where it ranks among Italian ice cream shops, but it's one of the best in our country and I highly recommend it!

The best ice cream, in the 90s-98 I was in charge of producing and selling ice cream. It was the best ice cream in my area in Transylvania. I am a huge ice cream consumer, I eat it even if it's 5 degrees outside, no matter the season. Coming back to the ice cream from Romana, it's the best ice cream. I also ate at the Gelateria that they also have in Rome near the Hungarian embassy. From there I fell in love with this ice cream. When I found it in Milan, it was an enormous joy for me. I walk 3 km every evening to eat it because it's worth it. Congratulations to the producers and the staff who are very kind and professional. Note 10*. Last night I also ate the pan-cake. It was wow.
