The atmosphere is welcoming, well-kept, modern, and warm (with the kitchen and dining room staff's artwork and names). The service was prompt, prompt, and friendly. The grilled octopus was simply spectacular. The scallops and tarte tatin were also delicious.

We had a superb last evening with our family in Gastone. After all the lovely but meat heavy diners we had in Florence so far, this was a perfect ending of our trip. The quality of the food is outstanding, as well as the service and the atmosphere. They take food serious here. We wanted to share starters, some pasta’s and a main. They were really flexible in accomodating our wishes and the waitress made good suggestions on what to choose and how many portions would be enough. They also did good wine pairings and let us taste some wines we did not try before. Every dish from starter to dessert was simple, but of outstanding quality, just made with good ingredients and care, like you want Italian food to be. Can recommend the scallops, dry aged fish sashimi and the pasta with bottarga - some very special dishes for real fish lovers you would not easily find somewhere else. Although having a full dinner with multiple dishes is pricier than the average restaurant in Florence, we thought all in all the price/quality ratio is very good.

Last Saturday, April 15th, we gathered at Gastone restaurant to celebrate a very special milestone: Alessandro's thesis presentation and graduation. Located in the heart of Florence, just steps from the Duomo, this fine dining establishment offered us the perfect refuge to deviate from the typical Tuscan repertoire and immerse ourselves in impeccable and attentive service. We began the evening with a selection of appetizers that showcased masterful technique: Crocchette di Gambero: A delicate shrimp pastry, breaded with homemade artisanal breadcrumbs, served with a refreshing lime mayonnaise. Sashimi di Pesce Frollato: A bold creation featuring bottarga emulsion, balsamic vinegar with figs, artichokes in oil, and the vibrant touch of mint oil. Il Nostro Crudo di Gastone: A display of freshness that included two tartares, julienned local squid, sashimi, and a selection of shellfish with pairings designed by the chef. For the main courses, the mastery continued with the Filetto Frollato (aged fish) accompanied by confit porcini mushrooms, a quenelle of pumpkin, and an intense fish demi-glace; and a grilled octopus served with a skewer of new potatoes, provola cheese, turnips, and the smoky touch of charred onion powder. Choosing a Franciacorta Blau Blanc de Noir Extra Brut 2016 (100% Pinot Nero) was a brilliant technical decision for this menu. The fine bubbles and saline acidity of the Franciacorta act as an exfoliant for the palate, necessary after the richness of the croquette dough or the provola cheese of the octopus. The notes of pastry and yeast create a sensory bridge with the artisanal breadcrumbs and the mature flavor of the fish. The brain perceives an "aromatic coherence" that generates a feeling of harmony and calm. The finale was the perfect ending: a Tiramisu made tableside. Watching the fresh ingredients blend together increases the cephalic phase of digestion (salivation and enzyme release) even before tasting the dessert. This "staging" transforms a familiar flavor into a novel experience, elevating the classic dessert to a visual spectacle. A magnificent experience that will undoubtedly make you want to return.

I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of friends, and was pleasantly surprised by their unique approach to catering. I don't want to just dwell on the fact that they know how to handle fish exceptionally well, but from the welcome to the dessert, they were perfect! An extensive and comprehensive wine list. A gem in the center of Florence, a restaurant that allows us Florentines to enjoy good fish even when we're far from the sea! Keep up the good work, congratulations!

25/01/2026: Whenever we pass through, any excuse is a good one to stop and eat here. The staff is courteous and helpful, the location is the most relaxing, and the food is endless. It goes without saying that they deserve full marks!
25/01/2026: I've been there many times and have always loved everything. The last time was for my mom's birthday. We had a mixed Tuscan antipasti (special), then straight to the main course with fillets and steak, and to finish, a mix of homemade desserts, all delicious. The outdoor garden is stunning; in the summer, you can eat outside in the cool evening air. In short, there's little to complain about; you can't fault such a perfect place.

07/07/2026: This restaurant was recommended to us for an excellent Florentine steak, and we decided to try it this evening. We were pleasantly surprised; everything was truly exquisite, from the welcome entrée to the little surprise at the end. The service was also impeccable, and a special thanks to Chiara for accompanying us throughout the entire evening. We highly recommend it.
27/06/2026: Everything was perfect, from the friendly service to the amazing Florentine steak! Definitely worth a try. The waiters also spoke excellent English, so it's great even for non-Italian tourists. Keep up the good work!
