Garbassu In

Good food, a unique retro atmosphere, and top-notch service, but…for that kind of expense, you can't afford to have your clothes soaked in kitchen fumes! Needs improvement…

Found by chance in the alleys of downtown Varazze, "Garbassu" was a pleasant surprise. Vintage decor and a unique atmosphere. Tasty, well-prepared dishes. The price was perhaps a little higher than expected, but it was still a great experience.

Average food, fairly well-prepared dishes. Unique location. Service definitely needs improvement. We had an endless wait for menus, and every time we asked for more water or bread, it was a struggle to get a waiter's attention. Service started at 8:00 PM; we ordered, asking if it was possible to have fried food as an appetizer instead of a main course. The waiter said yes, then returned to the table shortly after, telling us it wasn't possible because the frying oil was still cold and we'd have a long wait (and it was 8:30 PM, after all). The wait was there, and I think it was completely unjustified, despite the restaurant being packed: an hour and a half for four trofie with pesto and a calamarata. It's a shame, because it seems like they're too complacent about the location, forgetting the importance of timely service.

I dined at this charming restaurant a few nights ago and it was a truly pleasant experience, one I highly recommend to anyone passing through Varazze. The food was excellent! I personally opted for the fried fish and vegetables, and it was truly excellent, light, and tasty. The service was perfect, with attentive and truly helpful staff. The outdoor tables create a truly unique and special atmosphere. Highly recommended!

The place is truly charming, with attention to detail and an intriguing atmosphere that makes for a pleasant stay. The cuisine also deserves praise: the dishes are tasty, well-prepared, and of excellent quality. Unfortunately, the service wasn't up to par. We had to ask for menus, water, and even bread ourselves. The dishes arrived one at a time, uncoordinated, and the wine arrived only after we'd already started eating and after we'd requested it a second time. A shame, because the beauty of the place and the quality of the food risk being overshadowed by sloppy service. With some improvement in this area, the experience could truly be excellent.

One star for the originality of a small courtyard in Varazze. The set menu is good but average. The price is fair. One star goes to the kind, polite, and professional waiter. Another to encourage improvement because the basics are good.

Don't worry, if the GPS tells you you've arrived but you don't see it, everything's fine. Walk down and around the corner from an anonymous seaside restaurant, you'll see this little courtyard with tables set up; it feels like a village. Every now and then, someone comes by, someone who doesn't know if they can get through there or if it's a dead end. You give directions, everything's fine :) Good food, not as extensive as the Wine list The chef really likes using leeks/onions/garlic Excellent dinner. Thanks

A unique experience at Garbassu in Varazze! The restaurant is very welcoming, tastefully decorated, and has a fairytale, original, and enchanting atmosphere. The food is fantastic, with limited but high-quality and fresh selections. Each dish is a true journey of flavors. The trofie al pesto is excellent! The staff is friendly, and the service is excellent. Highly recommended!
