Excellent food, fast service, and a very pleasant atmosphere! Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!

The owner is a wonderful gentleman, an incredible host, as well as an artist and a collector. Be sure to check out the lower level to see his gallery of antiques, his hand-made sculptures, and his paintings.
When we ate here, there was live piano music inside. The food was amazing, and they served me a litre of beer (one glass).
The whole family is great. Be sure to visit them when you are in Rome!

A wonderful place we stumbled upon by chance on our last evening in Rome. Incredibly delicious fish (grilled salmon steak with vegetables for only 18 euros), and my friend was delighted—they were the only place where they brought her a pot of tea (even though it wasn't on the menu)! Tea is served in cups everywhere, but here they had a pot! Huge thanks to the staff for the service, friendly attitude, and wonderful food.

Wonderful family restaurant. I’m not sure Marco is the owner, but he is at least the Chef and does what I like to see, he comes out and greets his patrons. He also has his young children working with him. His teenage son Pietro waited on us and was very gracious. Food was excellent also, but I’m walking away with how I was treated like a friend.

The polenta at Gallo Matto, run by Mr. Marco, is one of those dishes that stays in your memory. Intense flavor, perfectly seasoned, and with that homemade touch that makes all the difference. The atmosphere is simply extraordinary, welcoming, and full of charm. It's the kind of place that makes you feel at home, even when you're in Rome. Without a doubt, I recommend it: anyone who comes to Rome needs to visit Gallo Matto.
