The frico is good The raw ham is excellent

I say goodbye to Friuli passing by this very famous remote restaurant!! In fact, here they serve some really delicious local specialties: frichi, which here are served in 28 different types!!!! However, I wasn't convinced by the very long waiting time, even though there were very few people that day. But the internal atmosphere of this dated trattoria is something that really enhances the wait.

We tried this place on the "recommendation" of a well-known local influencer. Unfortunately not a positive experience. Waiting times too long (probably due to the lack of staff in the kitchen) arrived at 8pm and left at 10.15pm to eat a first course and a frico. Our room was full and I heard other comments about the timing from people who had arrived even before us. Nothing to say about the frico, abundant and very good while the first courses unfortunately both overcooked and without salt. It's unfortunate because we had higher expectations. The rating could have been a 2 but given the correctness of the owner in removing from our bill a first course that had been served incorrectly, the 3 was a must. We'll try again maybe during the week.

We went for lunch on the day of the Epiphany, a family-run place, everyone was very kind. We enjoyed an appetizer of "limousine" meat cuts...excellent. Followed by pasta (homemade) seasoned with hemp and goat's blue cheese, a sort of goat's gorgonzola, and walnuts... delicious... obviously we couldn't help but taste the frico dish with pears and polenta... We will definitely be back to try other varieties of the dish with frico. Super recommended.

Good food.. the waitress was a little absent-minded, she forgot things and either asked for them or just didn't bring them to you and you had to ask.. but I recommend the food

La Trattoria Fricheria al Cavallino, situata nel borgo di Strassoldo, si distingue per un'atmosfera vintage ma piuttosto trascurata, soprattutto nell'ingresso. Il personale gentile e accogliente, ma l'offerta culinaria delude. Il frico, specialità della casa, ha un rapporto sbilanciato tra patate e formaggio, con predominanza delle prime, e la polenta (stile valsugana) che lo accompagna risulta grumosa e insapore. Il dolce, semifreddo al croccantino, servito congelato, è difficile da mangiare e poco gustoso (con una presenza eccessiva di cristalli di ghiaccio in bocca - spero di aver reso il concetto -). In sintesi, nonostante la buona accoglienza e la posizione pittoresca, la qualità del cibo non ha soddisfatto le mie aspettative.

Andati una volta, ci abbiamo provato una seconda senza prenotazione e non c’era più posto. Per sottolineare che se ci torni ti sei trovato bene. Cucina friulana con prodotti tipici. Notevole.
