This is the most no-nonsense tavern full of locals. I was a bit confused at first because they have a peculiar system of ordering (you pay and get tickets for either pasta, antipasti, drinks or extras like arancini that you then give the people running the two stations). The food was good and the prices were amazing - €4 for a big plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce and €1.50 for an ice tea. That's the cheapest I have ever eaten anywhere.

Madonna Mia! What a place! You don't go there for the food (although the pasta was ok), but for the experience! A very cheap place where there are several pastas available every day. You wait in line at the cash register, pay, take a number and go to the window by the kitchen, where a rather bored chef serves you pasta from a large pot, scoops sauce from another, and sprinkles a generous portion of cheese on top. You buy a plastic cup of wine for one euro and enjoy life.
It's very noisy and chaotic inside, this place is Sicily in a nutshell for me.
PS They also have TAVOLA CALDA, a selection of different snacks/dishes that are available immediately.

Fantastic experience, typical dishes made at the moment, unique flavours, family atmosphere, kindness of the owners, excellent prices and not tourist-like like in the whole area near the Massimo theatre. An experience definitely worth doing if you pass through Palermo!!

Grande scoperta a Palermo, in una traversa della centralissima via maqueda, prezzi bassi e qualità alta. Funziona self service con un banco di contorni e secondi già pronti e i primi e i fritti da fare al momento. Super consigliato, posto frequentato dai siciliani e sai lavoratori questo fa capire che la qualità è alta .

Consigliate da un tassista, ci siamo
andate a pranzo. E’ in pieno c’è sto dietro via Maqueda zona teatro Massimo. E’ self service rustico. Ma merita 4 pallini perché tutto molto buono. Anelletti alla palermitana ottimi, buonissime le panelle e l’arancino. Prezzi veramente bassi. Non è turistico. Consigliato
