A lovely place with simple, understated, and welcoming decor. Good service, with friendly and welcoming waitresses. The chef is excellent. Both meat and fish dishes are excellent, but the meat is a cut above. The Pici del Chianti are extraordinary. The dishes are generous and good value. The wines are good.
We'll be back!!

We spent a night in Siena, passing through Via Camollia, and we saw this place. We made a reservation in the late afternoon for that evening.
We ate well, and the service was very pleasant.
There was another couple near us with lots of requests and demands… I appreciated the patience of the waitresses… 😁
The place is small and pleasant, and with a few small touches to the decor, it could be at its best.
I would definitely go back.

We were in Siena for the feast of Sant'Ansano and stayed at this Osteria in the Contrada dell'Istrice, right inside the city walls. The place is small but cozy and not noisy. We ate very well and the waitress was super nice...recommended 🤗🤗

The service was very fast (but the place was actually half empty at the time) and the quality of the food was very high: the grilled pecorino cheese and pici were excellent!

Very nice and service minded staff. The food was unfortunately not that great. It had absolutely no taste (it was missing seasoning like salt, pepper, olive oil, chili, parsley wtc…). The fillet meat was a bit hard. We ordered some porcini mushrooms which were far from being white & wholesome. They were past their prime and again they had no taste. Normally in Tuscany you find excellent porcini mushrooms.

Great pasta! I had the carbonara, which was delicious, but my boyfriend had pici (switched out for spaghetti) with pomodoro, basil, and chili and I have to admit, his dish was even better than mine, though mine was still excellent. He said it was the best pasta he’s had so far in Italy.
Prices are very reasonable (10€ for each dish), and we didn’t experience any of the service issues some reviews mention. Our food arrived quickly, and since we had read about complaints regarding waiting for the check, we simply went inside to pay, which was perfectly fine with us.
Overall, a fantastic spot for tasty, authentic pasta at a fair price. Highly recommend!

Lovely service, but a very undecorated and chilly basement. Too many mirrors and more style upstairs close to the bar. The starter was great, the rabbit (coniglio pinoli e prugne) was poor, just a little meat, kinda cold with some nice plum sauce. The pasta (pici con cream zuchine, speck e noci) was undercooked and hard.
Not bad, but would not recommend it.
