No, guys,
I've been working in the kitchen for years.
Besides cooking, one of my greatest passions is eating in restaurants considered fine dining, or at least where the quality of the ingredients reigns supreme.
80% of the time, I'm disappointed because communication sometimes extols characters and places that later turn out to be a waste of flavors and ideas. Here, however, we're talking about something else.
We're talking about an attentive, highly trained dining room staff that provides extraordinary service, with the eyes of those who love their work.
As well as the kitchen brigade, original ideas, dishes that speak of roots and local tradition.
We spent 10 days in Sicily, we ate at 20 restaurants in the guidebook,
But you beat them all, even if there's never a real competition, just an awareness of what's offered and how it's done, and you do it excellently.

An enchanting location in a palazzo with an ancient lemon grove in the center of Modica. Top-notch cuisine. It's a surprise that awaits us at the end of Vicolo Napolitano, which is certainly not an avenue. The well-spaced and beautifully set tables are caressed by magical breezes of cool air and invite quiet conversation. This is a rare feature that deserves its due, as is the owner and chef, a master of younger chefs, who never ceases to amaze, showcasing ancient Sicilian recipes masterfully revisited. It's an event not to be missed and offers the opportunity to appreciate the menu's variations, which change with the seasons. Last night's visit allowed us to confirm this assessment.
A year later, and with the Covid disaster in the midst of it all, tonight, July 15th, after traveling 1,600 km between yesterday and today, we wanted to celebrate the embrace of our Sicily here with Gianluca and Emilia, almost as if they were the ones entrusted with the task of welcoming us. Sublime dinner...
UPDATE today, May 5, 2021. I called Emilia, who confirmed the news: this season she will be at Ciccio Sultano's Bistrot I Banchi, and Gianluca will be at Ciccio Sultano's Duomo in Ragusa.
UPDATE JULY 2022: Together, they collaborate with Lorenzo Ruta at Taverna Migliore in Modica.
Today, July 20, 2025, a reconnaissance visit to the restaurant: the tables don't have tablecloths, but the food is absolutely excellent with stunning combinations.

Pastatredda with slipper lobster, bergamot, and lemongrass
Fried moray eel with Mauro seaweed and plums, and a spicy sauce, and finally

Esperienza fantastica! Un viaggio alla scoperta di sapori e interpretazioni di piatti locali e non. Tutto veramente molto buono! Il menù segue le stagioni e i prodotti tipici.
La chef Francesca é veramente impressionante. Complimenti anche a Carla e Paolo che in sala ti fanno sentire a tuo agio e sono attenti ai minimi dettagli.

Fantastic experience! A journey to discover flavors and interpretations of local and non-local dishes. Everything is really very good! The menu follows the seasons and typical products. Chef Francesca is truly impressive. Compliments also to Carla and Paolo who make you feel at ease in the dining room and are attentive to the smallest details.
