Maybe a tourist can be satisfied but for someone born in Trieste nothing special the beer was expired sour maybe the bottom of the keg the meat was average... Sad the rudeness of the waitress welcomed... or rather not welcomed sulky sour without a word, probably in the wrong job

The food is AMAZING. Welcoming staff, excellent value for money, the place is small so I recommend booking. You won't be disappointed.

Informal and simple environment with typical Serbian food. The dishes are really very good and at a great price!
You must try the leskovačka mućkalica soup: delicious! 🍲😋

A stone's throw from Ponterosso, in a discreet corner of Trieste, there is a small place that brings a piece of the border directly into the city. Here the Balkan cuisine, and in particular the Serbian one, is expressed in all its essentiality and authenticity, without unnecessary sophistication.
The menu is a tribute to the traditional grill, with meatballs, ćevapčići and spicy sausages, prepared according to the rule of art: no frills, only well-worked meat flavored with the classic touch of onion. But the real protagonist is the dish of beans with spiced sausage, served piping hot in a steaming bowl. It is difficult to find something similar in Italian cuisine, but for those who know the Balkans, this dish is an institution - simple, substantial and deeply rooted in tradition.
A little advice for the uninitiated: avoid labeling this cuisine with just one nationality. If there is one thing that unites the ex-Yugoslavian people it is the love for certain dishes, but calling a dish "Serbian" to a Croatian, or a dessert "Croatian" to a Slovenian could create some tension. The rule is simple: you eat everything willingly, but without too many debates over the names.
If you are looking for an authentic taste of Balkan flavors in Trieste, this place is a little gem to discover.
