All 5 of us had a great time, we ate a good sandwich, extra good chips, drank more than a few bottles of wine and 1 round of bitters, gin and tonic, all good and a great evening. Thank you.... we'll be back

Trieste has many sandwich shops, but only one is named after a mythical sword and has an innkeeper who, depending on his mood and the weather, welcomes you with a sharp joke or with a look that makes you regret having asked for the well-done steak. But don't worry: it's part of the show. Excalibur is not just a bar, a sandwich shop or a brewery... It is a ritual of passage for those who are hungry, thirsty and want company. Here the joke travels faster than Wi-Fi, the beer arrives before you even order it (or so it seems), and the sandwiches are constructed as if they were assembled by a crane in a shipyard: layers, levels, superstructures and a precarious balance that defies physics... but gets the taste right. Unlike other historic venues in Trieste, such as the TNT or the Golden Horse (big respect, eh), Excalibur has a tactical position: it is a stone's throw from the stadium, sports hall, concerts and epic gatherings of all kinds. Any serious event in Trieste ends with the same sentence: Biretta at Excalibur? If you go once, you'll come back. If you come back, you will become a regular customer. And if you become a regular customer, sooner or later the innkeeper stops glaring at you and gives you half a smile. It's done.

8 euros for 0.4l of beer. For me the price is shocking and unjustified. The sandwiches are very good!

I Panini sono buoni mentre la birra anche chiara normale costa una follia, 8 euro per 0.4l. Prezzo ingiustificato. Secondo me stiamo esagerando.

The sandwiches are big and good but the beer prices are out of this world. 8 euros for a 0.4cl beer (all of them except the special one...the special one costs 9). In short, the price of Piazza di Spagna while you're on a bench in the outskirts of Trieste. Recommended for teetotallers!

volendo cambiare un po' i soliti locali abbiamo scelto questo posto praticamente in centro a Trieste. Il menù è più o meno quello di altri pub che ci sono in giro però il piatto di hamburger e patatine era un po' sotto alle aspettative come anche il piatto di petti di pollo. la birra era buona con ampia scelta ma tutto sommato questo locale non ci ha particolarmente entusiasmato. forse d'estate in veranda l'atmosfera sarà migliore, vedremo...
