Essenziale In Firenze

Had a lovely dinner here - great service, cool atmosphere and some very, very good dishes, especially the tropea onion, the (gluten free!) cold spaghetti and the risotto. Recognizable Italian/Tuscan dishes with a creative twist of unexpexted flavor combinations. I'm still debating whether I found the carrot and avocado dessert to be a success ;) but I am certainly intrigued -- to be surprised like this is definitely something I look for in restaurants. I very much recommend Essenziale and find out yourself!

However, this review will have little time because the place is close to closing; in any case we want to have a comparison. We came to this restaurant for a blind menu, 4 courses. We had already been here several times and they had all been very pleasant, excellent. This time, however, it didn't go as hoped. The menu was not very similar to us (excellent quality I want to specify) and with rather small portions. Inattentive staff. My partner dropped his napkin, the girl in the room insisted on changing it (absolutely not necessary for us) but... it never arrived. No one to come and ask how it was going, if I needed anything. After dessert we waited 20 minutes but when no one came (we would have liked a coffee and a bitter), we got up and went to pay. I don't usually write negative reviews, we like to discuss things directly when we are at the restaurant but at the time of payment we were not asked for anything!! If we had liked it, we would have had a good time.... Nothing at all. It was only pointed out to us between the lines that we were the only table with the tasting for 4 and not 6..... I don't think it's a crime to choose to eat less. Given the price (€70 each), we didn't expect this service. The owner closes because apparently he no longer gets along well with the customers.... Sorry, but perhaps it's not all the customers' fault.

Un bonito restaurante “joven” con decoración moderna. Menú corto con entrantes para compartir seguido de plato principal. Todo eran combinaciones muy sabrosas e innovadoras; la pasta que tenía era la mejor que he probado. Muy simple pero súper sabroso. La próxima vez tomaré el menú degustación.

It's a shame that the restaurant is closing soon... Excellent cuisine, especially the herbazzone and the empanadas, delicious! Impeccable service and the right bill, we had a pleasant evening!
