Typical Milanese food. Everything is really delicious. I ordered the asparagus risotto, and it was delicious.
And it's also a very cozy place.

The food is certainly in line with expectations of high-quality Milanese cuisine. The place is very small, and the layout means seating is very cramped. The acoustics, too, aren't the best if you're around loud people. The service was good; the person serving us tried very hard, but they probably need a waiter to make it optimal.

A warm and authentic restaurant in Milan, far from the tourist traps. We ate the delicious Milanese risotto with bone marrow. The waitress was kind and helpful. I highly recommend it!

I called to make a reservation as people has been mentioning how busy it can get, though it was quiet when I came in.
Food was amazing, the recommended housewine was even better.
The service was great too.

We visited El Barbapedana last Monday (9th June) while visiting Milano's Navigli area. We were a group of seven Australians, and we were welcome by the restaurant owner's daughter who served our table and entertained us, telling us stories about her father and the restaurant. The food was amazing, all delicious local dishes everyone in the group enjoyed. We had such a wonderful time, we would recommend it to anyone visiting Milan !!! And while there, check out the book translating Milanese dialect to Italian language, another treasure created by the restaurant's owner.

El Barbapedana was fantastic—the food was spot on and really authentic. The tiramisu came out at room temperature, which was a bit off since it’s usually served cold, but the flavor was still great. Would happily go back!

Non mi ha convinto, anche se devo ammettere che sia ben gestito. Purtroppo però non ho trovato la milanese memorabile e questo è un grosso limite. Non ci tornerei.

Un locale piccolo, ambiente intimo e accogliente, è stata sicuramente una scelta azzeccata andare con le mie amiche in questo ristorante che serve cucina tipica milanese e lombarda. Abbiamo mangiato solo dei primi, ma tutti ottimi e ben fatti, e posso dirlo per il risotto alla milanese da me scelto, molto gustoso e cremoso. Il cameriere è stato molto cortese e ci ha suggerito i vini per accompagnare i nostri piatti. Se devo trovare un difetto, direi le portate: non molto grandi, ma sicuramente dipende dal piatto che si ordina, anche se per i prezzi mi sarei aspettata maggiore abbondanza. Ad ogni modo, abbiamo ben mangiato e ben bevuto, e consiglierei questo ristorante ad altri, e molto probabilmente ci tornerò.
