It's a truly historic restaurant, and that's precisely why it's so special. The food is obviously excellent: we loved it so much we ended up ordering another pasta dish.
Even though we were Korean, the entire staff was incredibly kind to us. They explained the menu well and gave us excellent suggestions.
The atmosphere is beautiful, but what struck us most is how they continue to respect the traditions of the past. For example, they only serve wine and water, just like they did in the past, with no other beverages. It's rare and very charming.
If we return to Orvieto, this place will definitely be a must-see. Thank you so much, we had a truly wonderful meal. See you soon!
I arrived around 1:30 PM after visiting the Orvieto Underground. I heard they offer a chance to sample medieval Orvieto cuisine, so I went. The server was very friendly. I had the thick, round Umbrian truffle carbonara pasta and the flat fettuccine ragu pasta. Both were delicious, especially the truffle carbonara. I highly recommend it.
For dessert, I ordered chocolate cake and drank it with espresso. The chocolate cake was filled with rich chocolate cream, giving it a rich chocolate flavor.
Discovered by chance, we were intrigued by the selection of 16th-century Orvieto dishes, and we weren't disappointed. A good appetizer with crispy guanciale, excellent umbricelli with truffles, exquisite beef with aromatic herbs based on an ancient recipe, delicious desserts, a beautiful setting, and a gracious hostess serving us. I would have tried more, because the menu is worth it.

A fantastic lunch at the medieval restaurant Duca di Orvieto. We tried the black truffle carbonara, the homemade tagliatelle with wild boar ragù, and the homemade umbrichelle with porcini mushrooms: truly excellent and flavorful first courses. For the second course, the beef spiced with 30 herbs was tender and delicious.
Everything was delicious, with attentive service from the super-kind and welcoming owner. The bill was also very fair. We'll definitely be back.
Highly recommended!

We stopped at this restaurant by chance, and I have to say we didn't regret it one bit; in fact, it was a wonderful discovery. After eating the fettuccine with wild boar here, I reevaluated all the other dishes I've eaten before. I would have liked to order a trio. The flavor was authentic, with real wild boar, not overdone with pork like many do. The lady there was very kind, friendly, and genuine; we felt very comfortable. I absolutely recommend it. I DON'T HAVE PICTURES OF THE DISHES BECAUSE I GLUE THEM AWAY.

A journey through time, even before the tomato.
Entering this restaurant means leaving behind much of contemporary cuisine and rediscovering flavors straight from the 16th century. Here, the tomato, the undisputed star of Italian tradition, is still unheard of in many dishes, and each dish speaks of an older Italy, made of spices, aromatic herbs, and slow preparation.
The culinary offerings are striking for their coherence and historical research. The recipes are based on period sources and reinterpreted with great balance. We tried the lemon chicken and the beef with 30 herbs. You can sense the desire to restore dignity to an often-forgotten cuisine, where sweet and sour, aromas, and textures play a central role.
The use of ancient grain flour is particularly interesting, giving the homemade pasta a more rustic texture and a deep, almost nutty flavor. Artisanal preparation enhances the raw ingredients and helps create authentic dishes, simple yet rich in character. Try the excellent umbruiachelli pasta in black truffle carbonara.
The result is a surprising experience: less immediate than modern cuisine, yet capable of conveying history, local culture, and gastronomic culture. It's not just a dinner or lunch, but a story on a plate—an invitation to slow down and savor the past through contemporary eyes.

We had lunch at Duca di Orvieto and were truly thrilled. We rediscovered the authentic flavors of yesteryear, those that exude tradition and quality.
The owner was incredibly kind and passionate about explaining the dishes, taking us on a true journey through flavors. The creamy and fragrant truffle carbonara and the tender and flavorful lemon chicken are definitely worth trying.
A wonderful experience that we wholeheartedly recommend!

Where can I start? Well, we had dinner on the evening of February 16th and have booked again for lunch the following Sunday. The restaurant's atmosphere is comforting and welcoming, yet at the same time austerely refined.
The dishes are DELICIOUS. The truffle carbonara captivated me, but so did the chestnut ravioli and honey chicken, the braised wild boar, the strudel made warm especially for us... The magic of Mrs. Adler (who was available to suggest recipes over the phone), her fantastic personal story, her expertise, and the kind, friendly, and affable staff. The real wonder is the enthusiasm of a woman who, even in her eighties, still has the enthusiasm for what she puts into her dishes in her eyes and enjoys the satisfaction of all her customers. Hats off!!!! Kisses from Mariella and Fabrizio

A fantastic stop, we're welcomed into a warm and familiar atmosphere. Mrs. Adler joins us at the table with her enormous array of medieval menus, explaining the King of the place: truffles, with their intoxicating aromas.
She recommends truffle ubriachelli and truffle carbonara. Divani
Then we order a magnificent meat stew.
The desserts concluded the evening exceptionally.
A unique experience.
