The restaurant I wanted to go to was fully booked, so the owner of the hotel, who is from Matera, recommended it to me. The customer service of the female clerk was very good!
When I said I wanted to try Matera's local cuisine, they recommended a set of appetizers. Cialledda fredda (bread salad), polpetta di pane (bread polpetta), and crapiata materana (soup with chickpeas, buckwheat flour, lentils, etc.) were especially delicious!
The food was amazing and we love the cave atmosphere. We had a polpetone di pane Di Matera, salad, spaghetti al limone and sausage. It was all trully delicious.

Were in Matera for a day trip and wanted to eat something in the evening before departure.
We found this pizzeria by chance.
What can I say...
We were thrilled, we felt comfortable from the first second. The service was very, very nice.
No problem at all with a dog either.
The food is simply delicious, fresh ingredients.
It also came very quickly, we didn't have to wait long.
We were so excited that we came back to eat there.
Anyone visiting Matera must come and eat here.

Among the caveoso caveoso caves, a little further from the nightlife venues, there is a restaurant with simple, local and tasty cuisine. Broad beans and chicory, orecchiette with turnip tops and crusco pepper, and orecchiette stracciatella and crusco pepper were a real delight. We also ordered something else, which enriched and concluded a good meal. The only precaution: the panzerotti known on the Bari coast are completely different, fried crispy and made with their own dough, not that of pizza. Attentive, polite staff, ready to propose and satisfy the customer's needs, never intrusive....... congratulations for your patience and professionalism. Recommended experience.

Tra le grotte del sarto caveoso, un po' più distante dai locali della movida un ristorante dalla cucina semplice, locale e gustosa. Fave e cicoria, orecchiette cime di rapa e peperone crusco, ed orecchiette stracciatella e peperone crusco sono stati una vera delizia. Abbiamo ordinato anche altro, che hanno arricchito e concluso un buon pasto. Unica accortezza: i panzerotti conosciuti sul litorale barese sono completamente diversi, fritti croccanti e fatti con impasto proprio, non quello della pizza. Personale attento, garbato, pronto a proporre e soddisfare le esigenze del cliente, mai invadente....... complimenti per la pazienza e professionalità. Esperienza consigliata.

Came across this lovely little restaurant while walking back from the other side of Sassi to the main piazza. It's built into a natural cave underground and is absolutely beautiful and authentic.
It was very quite, but after checking Google reviews and seeing the food that other people had, we decided to have dinner here.
Well we absolutely loved our experience here - from the incredible food to the lovely friendly and helpful staff - the pizza we had was amazing and probably the best we had in all of Matera (it was the Il Caveoso).
We also tried the local wine which was great, and for dessert we tried a local dessert which our waitress recommended.
We highly recommend coming here, even though it's a bit of a walk from the main piazza. And if it's a bit quiet - do not let that stop you from having the best experience here!

Beautiful restaurant, we entered in desperation not finding any other options as we couldn't agree on where to go and we chose this restaurant, best choice of our life! The restaurant is located underground but we went to the highest part, really wonderful atmosphere, we ordered the orecchiette, I had them with courgette and mint cream, fantastic! The waiters were very nice. I would absolutely go back!

Amazing super friendly service. The smile of the waitress is priceless (unfortunately didn't catch your name).
We enjoyed the food a lot. The ceccio dough is so different and very yummy. Also had the Matera typical fava bean dish as appetizer.
Can highly recommend everything.
