This is the second review I've left after 15 years traveling the world and I can only be happy to have met Umberto, tasty cuisine yet simple and authentic, zero sophistication just like being at home, I recommend trenette with clams and then grilled prawns, thanks Umberto!

We had dinner twice. Once the pizza (fabulous, one of the best I've ever had) and once the meat. Everything was delicious and the prices were more than fair. The owner, Umberto, was friendly and kind, a delightful person. The service was attentive and never intrusive. We really enjoyed our stay. Recommended.

I was passing through Matera with my husband. Unfortunately, on Saturday nights they only served pizza, but...what a pizza!!!! Truly excellent and made with genuine ingredients. Great prices, and a family atmosphere. If you're passing through Matera, be sure to stop by. I highly recommend it. The coffee and dessert are also excellent.

Siamo stati da Umberto su consiglio della nostra guida, alla ricerca di una cucina casalinga autentica, semplice e gustosa. Umberto, il padrone di casa, si occupa di tutto e ci ha guidati nella scelta dei piatti: orecchiette con cime di rapa e crosta di pane, e cavatelli con sugo di salsiccia e funghi. Porzioni abbondanti e prezzi davvero competitivi. Il locale è semplice, ma perfetto per una pausa genuina. Da non perdere il pasticciotto e il limoncello finale: davvero top!

25/05/2025: Exceptionnel!!!! Suites immenses très confortables. Un accueil xxxl de gentillesse, d'authenticité et de partage le tout dans un français irréprochable. Un petit déjeuner fabuleux entièrement fait maison par la mama avec les produits de la ferme. A moins de 10 mn du centre de Matera dans un calme absolu
14/04/2025: Bellissima masseria fortificata , la più antica della Lucania . Stanza Junior Suite ampia, con un bagno comodissimo e dotato di un simpatico sistema di luci soffuse e cangianti . Tutto da 10 e lode: location, colazione dalla qualità e quantità straordinarie. Ma sopra ogni cosa la gentilezza e l'accoglienza della Proprietà . Il titolare ci è venuto incontro nel parcheggio , accogliendoci nel vero senso della parola . Il soggiorno presso la Masseria Torre Spagnola non è solo un soggiorno, è un'esperienza.... Pochi km da Matera città, vicino al bellissimo Belvedere Murgia Timone (andateci poco prima del tramonto, in modo da trovarvi lì al calare della sera per vedere lo spettacolo di Matera come fosse un presepe illuminato ...) . Ottimo anche il rapporto prezzo-qualità . Consigliatissimo

16/11/2025: The place is very nice and the staff very attentive. I ordered a filet alla Rossini because I was craving meat. They asked me how I wanted it cooked and explained that it would come with potatoes and Madeira sauce. When I cut into my steak, it turned out to be a beet! I couldn't believe it. It wasn't even good enough for a vegan dish. A vegan dish is prepared, not just a boiled beet. Anyway, they replaced it and admitted their mistake. They brought me some very well-prepared meat, but a very small portion. And everything was very expensive. But the beet incident will go down in history as a funny anecdote.
