Last night, Tuesday, at 8:35 PM, three of us came in for a quick drink, knowing the place closed at 9:00 PM. When we asked, the bartender—a certain Fabio—replied rather rudely, immediately emphasizing that they closed at 9:00 PM. His tone and attitude clearly seemed like an invitation not to sit down. I believe the manager, Ivan, was at the register, and he witnessed the scene without intervening, effectively endorsing the behavior. I've been frequenting this place for many years and have always considered it an asset to the neighborhood. Under the long-standing management of the late Vito, the bar's true defining characteristic was its atmosphere: when you walked in, you felt welcomed, almost at home. It was a place where you enjoyed stopping, socializing, and chatting with other customers. Over the past few months, I've had the feeling that the place was rediscovering its soul, thanks to Rossana's smile at the cash register, Maria's helpfulness and constant kindness, Alessia's spontaneity, and Benny's attentiveness at the coffee machine. Precisely for this reason, yesterday's episode struck me and saddened me: it made me realize that not everyone understands the spirit that has always made this place special. Despite the disappointment, I still want to recognize and celebrate the beautiful side that still exists in this place, thanks to the people who work every day with professionalism, humanity, and courtesy. A historic, elegant bar in Turin dating back to 1958. A relaxing moment after five days at the Turin International Book Fair, where I was an exhibitor with my publishing house, Lux-Co EDIZIONI, and a speaker with my latest book. I had a cappuccino and a pastry with Myriam Lopa, author of my publishing house, Lux-Co EDIZIONI (pictured). Everything was excellent, the atmosphere elegant, and the staff very polite.

Prices have gone up, and the size of the croissants has shrunk. But the quality remains good. The wait for a coffee at the counter is still long, in my opinion.
