Da Santo In Ferrara

I wasn't a guest at the hotel but only ate at the restaurant. I ate very well and the staff who served me were perfect. Kind, efficient and thoughtful. The flakes with pears, cheese and pine nuts were fabulous.

Anyone who has read my reviews knows that, for restaurants and hotels, I have given 5 stars on very rare occasions, perhaps a hand (while there are 1-2 stars)... I think my 4 stars are worth many 5 stars recorded by commentators booleans (the very good/disgusting ones, with no middle ground). Da Santo played the 5 to the last minute. I'm talking about the restaurant, I didn't use the hotel service. Already a restaurant in the Ferrara area that has eel and salama on the menu has entered the Olympus of my favorite restaurants, the ones to which I will definitely return. Very fresh fish, perfect eel. The choice to stay a little behind with salt is extraordinary, an excellent idea for hypertensives but, for gourmets, the idea of ​​good flavor without excessive saltiness is to be rewarded. Mixed fish starter: excellent, a few slightly overcooked mussels escaped in the stew. Linguine with eel... oh well... happiness. Fried fish: fresh, calamari and cuttlefish (not a great variety), I like it slightly crunchier (purely subjective, obviously), pleasant and very fresh. The apotheosis: grilled eel... perfect... toasted on the outside and very soft on the inside (a slice of toasted polenta wouldn't have gone amiss). Here... I accompanied the frying with battered vegetables... but there are many other choices of side dishes: next time I will definitely change. Unfortunately no wine (the driver's curse) and nothing from the nice selection of desserts (too full). Expenditure corresponding to the quantity/quality (in a really not expensive restaurant). Excellent service, great affability. I will DEFINITELY be back.
