After Aalto's church in Riola, it's hard to find anything up to par, but a tip comes from a fan of this great architect... "go to Rotilio!" Better advice never! A phone call to make a reservation and you're at your table in 5 minutes. From the outside, it looks like one of those rustic trattorias near the Reno River for fishermen and tourists; in reality, the place is spacious, with friendly staff and a blackboard with the daily specials that is confusing: snails, espanadas and golden fried frogs... not a bad calling card. Looking at the menu, the menu is much more in line with the location: homemade pasta, cured meats and cheeses, and meat. We start with crescentine with cured meats and cheeses, gramigna with sausage, creamy fettuccine with ham, tortelloni speck and gorgonzola, coffee and to wash it down, a barrel-aged grappa that, tipping in a giant bottle, arrives in the glasses along with two biscuits. At the register they ask us €92. very honest and we give them to him happy and contented, at the end of a memorable trip.

A simple, family-friendly restaurant with no frills: the atmosphere is a bit dated but clean and welcoming, just like the trattorias of old. The food is good, with authentic dishes and generous portions. The prices are fair, and parking is ample and free.

Don't let the sports bar look fool u. Very nice staff. And good food for a very good price. Parking directly up front even for lager vehicles like campers.

Sometimes first impressions aren't accurate. In fact, once we arrived at the restaurant, the slightly shabby (if you'll pardon the expression) sports club exterior suggested a change, but my group and I decided to continue, and we were transported to an osteria with 1980s and 1990s decor.
When reading the menu, we were delighted to discover that all the pastas were handmade...we all chose different dishes, and everyone was extremely satisfied with the quality and deliciousness.
Kudos also to the staff, who, despite it being after hours, served us admirably with exceptional friendliness.
So, as they say, don't judge a book by its cover.

Pur senza troppe pretese è un buon locale, comodo per chi visita Rocchetta Mattei. Il menù è vario con tanti piatti della tradizione, rapido e gentile il servizio. Non male la cotoletta alla bolognese. Prezzi onestissimi.

Sono bolognese, ho più di settant'anni, di crescentine (altri in Emilia le chiamano gnocco) fritte con il prosciutto ne ho mangiate! molte e spesso! Ma poche volte buone e abbondanti come quelle da Rotilio, un posto che raccomando. Il locale è popolare, un padiglione in un centro sportivo, sul greto del fiume, reso allegro da tanti ragazzi. Tavoli all'interno e all'esterno. Dentro, non c'è il frastuono di tante pizzerie, si conversa senza dover alzare la voce. Al servizio giovani gentili e precise. Menù generoso con i primi e i secondi della tradizione e proposte ormai rare come lumache e rane. Volendo, anche pizza, volendo anche asporto.
