Yesterday I went to Matera with my wife for a day trip. There are no words to describe what others will be able to do better than me, a UNESCO World Heritage city. For lunch, having visited the Tramontano Castle nearby, we happened upon the Nonna Rosa restaurant. It's self-service; you order at the counter, sit down, and then they serve you everything. We ate Maritati terrina (fusilli and orecchiette with sauce), meatballs, and cold gialledda. Everything was served with care, and I must say, honestly, that the quality/price ratio is excellent. Worth trying.

We stopped for lunch one day at the end of August... definitely worth a try! Everything was delicious and well-prepared, despite the very casual service; you feel right at home. Dishes worth trying 😋😋😋... it's a shame we can't try them all! I recommend stopping by 😉

EXCELLENT! Traditional dishes, top-notch ingredients, very fair prices, and friendly staff! The dishes are cooked by locals! You can eat in the cozy dining room inside the restaurant! Highly recommended for dining in Matera; we even ordered takeout before leaving. Much better than many other, more expensive restaurants in the area. P.S.: The bread balls are the BEST!

Scelta di tanti piatti vegetariani, vegani, e non solo. Tutto super buono. Loredana e suo marito sono carinissimi. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. In 4 abbiamo speso 70 euro mangiando tantissimo. Si possono acquistare anche prodotti tipici: legumi, zafarani, sottoaceti...ecc.

15/10/2025: Very nice little restaurant, the lemon spritz was very refreshing. The pizza was fabulous, and the bruschetta was our favorite! We tried a small slice of tart, which was also delicious. Very good service. If you're passing through Matera, this restaurant is worth a stop.
01/10/2025: Delicious food, featuring dishes that rediscover traditional cuisine, explained by the owner, a very knowledgeable and courteous gentleman. I recommend it to everyone, whether celiac or not. If you're passing through Matera, you can't miss it.

09/10/2025: A very characteristic restaurant in the Sassi of Matera. Renovated, preserving all the period features without overpowering them with modern finishes, the restaurant has been carefully crafted to create a comfortable atmosphere with a touch of yesteryear. Highly prized and carefully selected local ingredients are transformed with respect for tradition, seeking out the flavors of yesteryear. The incredibly friendly staff makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. The price is fair. A special mention for a gem...at the back of the restaurant, in the deepest part, is a small cinema room that plays all the films shot in Matera on repeat...we'll definitely be back.
06/10/2025: The atmosphere of this place is incredible. Beautiful place even in small details. Staff is friendly and nice, we had pleasant time there. Unfortunately, food wasn’t exactly the best.
