There were five of us on a Friday night and we chose Da Marcello almost by inertia, because in Carpi, the name always comes up when it comes to pizza. Getting there isn't exactly easy: there's practically no parking in the area, and you have to expect a few minutes' walk, but once inside, you quickly forget the effort.
The place has the feel of a lived-in neighborhood pizzeria, where nothing is haphazardly planned. The tables are close together, it's a busy Friday night, and background noise is audible. It's not a place where people whisper, but we understand each other effortlessly, which is more than fine for an evening with friends. The atmosphere is well-suited to different types of company: families with children, groups of young people, couples not looking for romantic silence. We felt at ease from the first minute.
The service was punctual and friendly, without the excessive choreography that can be tiresome in some places. We were seated quickly despite the place being full, and the wait time was reasonable.
I had a pizza with prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella. The ingredients were clearly of high quality: the buffalo mozzarella was fresh and creamy, the prosciutto was carefully selected, and there was no sense of haphazard use. It's not the cheapest pizza you'll find in the area, but you can clearly see where that money goes. Da Marcello works with local suppliers and carefully selected ingredients, and this makes a difference in the final result.
One note worth mentioning: the selection of local craft beers is excellent, carefully curated, and varied. This isn't a given, and for those who enjoy pairing beer with pizza, it adds value to the evening.
The restaurant's history dates back to 1958, three generations of tradition that translates into a fundamental consistency. It's not a place that follows trends, but rather knows who it is and what it offers.
We'll be back. If it weren't for the difficulty in parking, it would be almost perfect.

Historic pizzeria in Carpi. Casual but very charming. Youthful atmosphere. Polite and friendly service. Excellent Neapolitan-style pizza (with a thick crust), but you can also ask for a "tarata" version.

I came back last Saturday for two takeout pizzas, one of which was gluten-free. Well, what can I say? The latter was out of this world. It's not easy to make a good pizza with that kind of dough. This time, you outdid yourself. Flavorful, soft, fluffy, elastic dough, and abundant, fresh toppings. Well done! 👏🏻

After dining here at least 7 or 8 times with friends, I can say that, obviously, my personal taste isn't entirely satisfying. Unfortunately, I don't like pizzas with a "tirone" crust; I've never managed to finish a pizza even once. :( There are pizzerias where I'd even order two pizzas. This one is good, of course, but not the way I like it. Try it and believe it; I think everyone has different palates and tastes. ;)

Not just a pizza, but a sensory experience!
From the presentation to the aroma and taste of fresh, quality products.
We picked it up as a takeaway while passing through in our camper; the parchment paper in the box is a real treat 🔝 🔝 🔝
