Walked in late evening and as it turned out it was already closed, Ida was just packing up. But she offered me to make a last quick margarita, which I gladly took. There was a delivery driver waiting for an order who translated everything, since I don't speak Italian. It was a nice authentic friendly experience and the pizza was tasty. Would definitely recommend!

Very rustic, run by the super friendly Mama Ida. She makes really good pizzas in a wood-fired oven. The crust is thin and the toppings are more than generous, with a real tomato flavor. Pizzas in the old town are more expensive and not as good. The seating is very basic, and everything is available to go. We went to Mama Ida's twice in three days.

Pizzeria Strapizzami

11/04/2026: Pizzeria Strapizzami is currently the best pizzeria for us. We've tried it in Lucca, Capannori, and Porcari: the pizza at Strapizzami is mouth-watering! The pizza with porcini mushrooms is our favorite! Excellent ingredients, excellent dough, cooked to perfection, and excellent value. Prompt service: we always offer takeout with a reservation. Parking is available next to the restaurant.

Pizzeria Fuori di Piazza

16/04/2026: The food is very good, the portions are a good size, the place is quite pleasant, but the waitresses aren't exactly known for their friendliness and helpfulness...
12/04/2026: Well...the pizza wasn't that good. I went back to get a plate, but they hadn't made any that day. So only my husband ate, which pissed off the waiter. We asked for spicy oil, and we're still waiting for it. The only exception is the location in Piazza Napoleone.
