Taglieri gustosi con affettati da provenienze specifiche e ricercate, pecorini ottimi con la chicca del miele al tartufo o marmellata cipolle e zafferano di San Giminiano, una combinazione azzeccatissima. Gianfranco ottimo padrone di casa, accogliente e simpatico, ci ha coccolato rendendo questo pranzo uno splendido ricordo. Simply amazing! I would only come back to San Gimignano to visit Gianfranco and his incredible place. He made our day, not only with his selected cheeses, truffled honey and local specialities, but also with his humor. You should definitely visit him!

Cibo eccezionale, super consigliato

Voor als je geen zin hebt in vette pizza. Heerlijke streekproducten met een goed glas wijn. En de gastheer serveert dit perfect voor je. Dit is Italië.

I’d seen this place had good reviews and when walking up here a couple of days back with my wife, stuck my head into the tiny shop, and didn’t see any tables so thought it was the wrong place and went on a few metres. Looked at Google again and saw it was the right place, we went back and had the tasting platter that Gianfranco specializes in. His chairs are tall stools facing narrow counters in two opposite corners. He makes an interesting performance as he carefully selects and slices all the meats and cheeses, breads and condiments, explaining with his few words of English the important attributes and which ingredients accompany others. All of what he served was very good quality, and I really enjoyed the truffle infused honey (on one of the harder pecorino cheeses), the jam and tge sundried tomatoes. His recommendation of a typical red or white wine to accompany it all should be followed! By the time we’d finished a rapport was established, and as we thanked him, he re-enacted my first look in the door, with an an exaggerated dismissive look on his face!! Gently ribbing me!! I was up here by myself again today and treated myself to his panino of the day - as you can see in the picture I was in too much of a hurry to eat before writing. That black bit on the cheese is some of the truffle in honey. We’ve eaten at some very high end restaurants on this trip in Italy, and this experience pleasantly complements them.

The owner, Gianfranco, is definitely a showman. He was delighted that we spoke a bit of Italian. A very small place but definitely worth a visit.
