We visited Francesco's twice on Lipari during our vacation, and every evening was a confirmation! Fresh, perfectly cooked fish: both the fish of the day and the grilled fish are absolutely delicious. An extra point for the kindness and attentiveness of the staff, especially for those, like me, with gluten-free preferences. Instead of bread, they served me a specially made focaccia with olive oil and oregano, which was truly delicious. I highly recommend it to anyone with celiac disease! They also make gluten-free pizza, but I haven't tried it.

Our only experience at Francesco's was born out of curiosity about trying the Nassa shrimp. In the afternoon, we stopped by the restaurant to see if they had it available. Upon confirmation from the waiter, we made a reservation for dinner. The service charge includes a paper placemat and cutlery in a paper bag with a napkin. We asked for sparkling water and it was served still. Our first course, spaghetti with Nassa shrimp as per the menu, was average in quality, the fish a little overcooked. I was a bit skeptical about the famous shrimp, so I did some more research: small size, purple eggs visible on the female, pink streaks. Oh no... we found none of these characteristics in our first course! So, I seriously doubt it. To top it all off, we were given the bill for another table, told we'd given the wrong number... I didn't think so... misheard can happen... our money was refunded. This was our single experience.

We stopped for a first course. We asked in advance if they had Nassa shrimp, and they said yes. We ordered spaghetti with Nassa shrimp. It was average, but after looking into it, we realized it wasn't Nassa shrimp.

Today we had the opportunity to eat at Da Francesco. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the dishes looked just like the photos. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Lipari.
