"Roma Caput mundi"
It's easy to say that the capital satisfies you, it makes you enjoy your time. Rome is so much.
If you want to reward yourself in the evening with a long-awaited dinner and you find the perfect place, well, then the day ends in glory.
Let's now return to "Emilio," the typical Roman trattoria. Here you'll find the best.
The place is simply what you'd expect when entering an osteria. Simple tables, a simple, clean space, wood-paneled walls, and paintings commemorating the passing of actors, singers, and celebrities who have dined here.
The menu also respects tradition. Classic first courses, as do the second courses and desserts.
On two evenings, we enjoyed pasta alla carbonara, pasta alla amatriciana, rabbit, saltimbocca, pecorino, puntarelle, and the inevitable artichokes.
Rome on a plate! The cuisine satisfies!
The recipe for each dish has probably been passed down for a long time, it is rigorously respected. Every dish is simply made to order.
There you are, full, smiling. You've had meticulous service with attention to detail, willing to offer advice on culinary questions, and a very fair final bill.
The restaurant, with all the tables always occupied, says it all...
The icing on the cake is seeing elderly dad still checking on the guests as he wanders around, while mom does that in the kitchen.
Our good evening was, "Thank you, we'll book for tomorrow night too."
Hats off, guys!

The old-fashioned tavern that has never changed its identity. Spectacular carbonara, top-notch grilled meatballs.

If you're in the area, don't miss it! 🌟
We tried coming without a reservation, but it was impossible because it was fully booked. We booked for the following night, and it was a great decision.
It's a long-established, family-run restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. The food is delicious, the staff is very friendly, and old Emilio is still there—very endearing.
We ordered the Roman-style artichoke, spaghetti carbonara, macaroni amatriciana, and a tata with jam that the owner recommended.
If you want to try authentic Roman pasta, don't miss this classic trattoria! 🥰

The classic trattoria you'd wish was right on your doorstep, serving authentic food like grandmas used to make. It's a shame it's only open Monday through Friday. The Roman-style artichokes are excellent; the fettuccine with ragù is very good, as are the tagliolini cacio e pepe, and the torta della nonna is also quite good. The atmosphere is simple and rustic, and Aldo Fabrizi once frequented it. Reasonable prices.

Da Emilio is the classic Roman trattoria you'd expect, where guests feel at home and the food reflects the quality served with grace, courtesy, and a speed that never hurts.
I only tried two dishes: Roman-style artichokes, which I adored at first sight, and then found to be sublime.
Followed by a plate of spaghetti carbonara, with pasta cooked al dente as it should be and crispy pancetta (?!) .
Good and tasty, but one small point, what I consider a venial sin: I prefer the sauce with guanciale and just egg yolks rather than the whole egg with a little egg white.
Overall, however, the Trattoria is a special place, absolutely worth trying, especially considering that in the area (we're between the Nomentana and Salaria roads, between the Nomentano neighborhood, Trieste, and a few hundred meters from the "Coppede" neighborhood) da Emilio is a rare gem worth preserving.
Well done.
Well done.

Friendly and fast service.
Perfect for those seeking the flavors of home.
Delicious broth and boiled meats. Fresh and well-balanced salsa verde.
Fair prices.
I'll gladly return.

I went here for lunch with friends and we immediately knew it was a good place to go because we had to book three days in advance. The three-day wait was worth it. The dishes were all delicious and captured that Roman essence that's slowly disappearing. The wait staff was extremely kind and always ready to suggest dining options. The prices were fair and probably lower than many of the trattorias we visited. Da Emilio is an experience not to be missed if you're in Rome as a tourist like me, because for them, you're not a tourist but a guest.
