The service and atmosphere were excellent. Unfortunately the food was inedibly salty. We had a fair sampling of the menu (Artichoke and Mozzarella, Carbonara, Pumpkin Stew, Guineafowl Stew, and Beef Rolls) and nobody could finish due to the salt content of the dishes. Sorry to say it was not better. That said, very friendly staff and the atmosphere was a nice change of pace from the more hectic dinner options all around Rome.

A typical Italian restaurant, it doesn't play around. Amazing food, wine and desserts.
Although it is right next to the Pantheon, there were few tourists inside. We recommend making a reservation, especially on the weekend it is full.

Armando al Pantheon is a true gem in Rome. The food is absolutely phenomenal, with perfectly cooked pasta and rich, authentic flavors. Some may find the pasta a bit al dente, but to us, it was just right. Pair it with a bottle of wine for the full experience.
The staff is friendly, attentive, and offers great recommendations. Be sure to make a reservation in advance! We booked about a month ahead, and it was well worth it. Otherwise, you’ll probably be waiting outside for a table.
Before you leave, don’t forget to take home a bottle of wine and a bag of their dried pasta. We were incredibly impressed with the entire experience and highly recommend it!

An institution of Roman cuisine in the heart of the city! Fabiana, the owner, welcomes guests with warmth and professionalism, making everyone feel at home.
The artichokes alla romana, cooked to perfection, are an explosion of authentic flavors. The cacio e pepe is creamy and intensely flavored, with a perfect balance between pecorino and pepper. The carbonara, then, is a true masterpiece: creamy, rich, with crispy bacon and an unmistakable taste.
An unmissable experience for those who love Roman cuisine made with passion and respect for tradition!

This was such a great place! You need to book this when in Rome. But book in advance. 30 days or so.
We had starters and pasta, great wine and desert. Really amazing. And the service was great as well.

Great restaurant a mere 1/2 block from the Pantheon. They open at 7:00 p.m. and definitely make a reservation. We had the carbonara and the Ossobuco special, both were great! There is a 3 euro per person table charge FYI..

Vinimos por los rigatoni all’amatriciana y no nos decepcionó. Vaya. Fue fantástico. Reservamos con mucha antelación y estamos muy contentos de haberlo hecho. Servicio de bienvenida amable. Si tienes la oportunidad de ir aquí, aprovéchalo. Llevamos 29 años viniendo a Roma y esta pasta nos dejó boquiabiertos. Volveremos.

I went to college in Rome during my junior year in college (1979). We ate lunch here almost every day. Mama and Papa worked in the kitchen, and the two brothers worked as waiters.
Same family, and the two brothers are now 50 somethings running the place. Has continued with its family atmosphere and reliable food since then. I have been there at least 20 times in the last 30 years, and they still recognize us.
Get here early for lunch, as the working class eats here daily because the food is good and reasonably priced.
Hint: Spaghetti Carbonara here is the best in Rome, and the house white wine is made from grapes from their own vineyards.

If you are looking at the Pantheon from the Piazza, go to the right and it's 3 or 4 doors down the side street there. Located right in the middle of it all, but tucked away enough that the locals really do go there. Serving delicious food, it is not a tourist trap in the least. Enjoyed the Roman pastas, lamb chops and oxtail smothered in ragu. Have visited this spot twice on different trips and would return. Reservations highly recommended.
