Il Cristallo dei Borgia in Piazza S. Maria della Valle 30 in Subiaco (same owners) with my family. Magnificent place run by wonderful people, excellent food and satisfied in everything!!! We will be back soon!

Yesterday we went to eat in this restaurant after a morning in the snow, there were 17 of us including 10 children and we arrived at 2pm. The room was almost full and yet we were welcomed like family and in less than five minutes Maurizio managed to prepare two tables for us and give us the utmost attention and availability. They were really nice to the children and treated them throughout the lunch like honored guests, preparing a table for them right in front of the cash register, in the center of the room: they ate everything and were at ease. Very quick in taking orders and preparing dishes, with Maurizio managing to stay behind the room and still come and talk to us, continuously bringing us high quality tastings (offered by him!) and talking to us about the area, giving us advice. Ditto for children.
The dishes we ordered were truly top notch. The braised venison on a bed of polenta was phenomenal, abundant, tender and on a very particular, creamy polenta. Even friends who had ordered something else (strozzapreti with wild boar ragù, fillet, pork shank, etc.) were impressed by the quality. Generous portions and top-quality local raw materials.
He is a force of nature, his wife Irene is also friendly and very kind, you can see that they have a great passion for their work.
We expected a much higher bill for what we had eaten and drank, but instead the 25 euros each were yet another nice surprise from this place.
Promoted across the board, we'll be back in a hurry!
I'll complete the review with the bar part: the previous afternoon, 8 of us (4 children) entered right at closing time. The room had already been cleaned and tidied up and yet even if we just wanted a hot chocolate we were welcomed with great kindness: we had a great time and Maurizio even gave the children croissants for breakfast the next day to take away. What more do you want to ask for? Well done!

We had lunch here after a morning of sledding and were very pleased!
The owners and staff stand out for their kindness and friendliness and their friendly approach added a personal touch to the lunch.
As for the portions, they are really generous! Try the homemade strozzapreti (with wild boar ragù) and the fettuccine! The house wine recommended to us by the waiter and the tiramisu were also good!
We will definitely be back!
