The union between tradition and modernity hinted at by Conciabocca's philosophy, although it is evident from the choices of dishes, is not glimpsed at all in the tasting menu.
We appreciated the carbonara, perhaps among the best we've tasted so far, and the tiramisu but on the rest the words of that old adage "I would like but (yet) can't" resonate.
Going by order, the skullcap supplì was tasteless. The mixed salad with porchetta was very good, but the latter was dry towards the center and with the annoying "food thread" which we were warned about during the presentation. Couldn't it really have been done differently? The cheek was well cooked, very sweet but with an underlying carrot flavor that covered every other element on the plate, even the excellent broccoli. We didn't understand the choice of raspberry coulis in the dessert, really very acidic and able to completely cancel out the Bavarois and shortcrust pastry. Applause certainly goes to the service who, seeing that the dessert was not appreciated, immediately brought us a revisited tiramisu instead of the Bavarian cream. The strengths described and the good sweet white wine that was brought to us made for a pleasant tasting that, in reality, we would not try again. Maybe it will be better next time.

Si tratta della Trattoria “Conciabocca”, a Roma, nel cuore di Testaccio. Aperta da cinque anni, è la prima volta che riusciamo a provarla. Abbiamo scelto
Antipasto: costolette d’agnello (si prendono benissimo con le dita) accompagnate da crema di cicoria e purea di patate dolci con salsa barbecue. Eccellente.
Portata principale: trancio di tonno scottato servito con scarola stufata, salsa di scarola e maionese al wasabi. Squisito.
Dessert: vino passito con cantuccini e biscotti secchi. Molto valido.
Conto più che adeguato rispetto alla qualità.

A group of young people with experience in renowned restaurants, I ate a stellar carbonara in terms of ingredients and preparation, a magnificent second course and an excellent dessert. Good choice of wines. Very correct price. I can't wait to go back.

I have been several times and it is always delicious, traditional Roman dishes with a contemporary twist that is always interesting and pleasant. Generous portions of the first courses, bacon cooked to perfection.
The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the vegan ricotta and sour cherry tartlet... as a fan of vegan patisserie I think it needs an extra boost. I recommend the tiramisu instead (excellent eggs).

Questo locale nel cuore di Testaccio merita un plauso. Trovato casualmente ,ci sono stato a pranzo domenica. Locale piccolo ma curato, pulito. Servizio attento e molto presente. Non vi sto a dire cosa abbiamo mangiato, vi dirò solamente che tutto era buonissimo, ben impiattato e spiegato dal gentile cameriere. Quel che ho visto passare tra i tavoli era altrettanto invitante, molto. C'è tanta qualità e tanto lavoro di livello in cucina e in sala. Bravissimi tutti ,veramente complimenti. Ci rivedremo di sicuro , devo anche menzionare un conto giusto.

Intimate and well-kept place, few tables arranged correctly. Starting from the food, I must say it was really excellent, we took two "revisited" supplì, two first courses, both very good and two desserts. The proposals on the menu are varied with meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. The main courses were exceptional while the desserts were a little below average compared to the rest. Friendly, present and elegant service. Correct bill, for dishes that offer excellent value for money. I will definitely come back to try the latter too! Well done
