We arrived in Laveno after visiting the hermitage of S. Caterina and had dinner in this restaurant where we found friendly staff and a nice Lombard menu. The risotto, polenta with stew and gnocchi were good. The prices were reasonable and the veranda overlooking the lake was beautiful.

Upon entering this restaurant, just a few meters from the lake shore, you're immediately struck by the welcoming and friendly atmosphere, accentuated by the friendly, professional staff who make you feel welcome. The restaurant has a dining room on the first floor, but we sat on the ground-floor veranda, which serves as the main dining room and overlooks the ferry dock. The small space still allows for easy movement and seating, yet still offers ample privacy. From the intriguing and delicious menu, which also features some seasonal specialties, we chose to start with the pumpkin flan with cream cheese and the tomino cheese wrapped in zucchini with sautéed vegetables and polenta. Both were truly delicious and beautifully presented on the plate thanks to the alternating colors. We then continued with the toma cheese, pumpkin, and guanciale risotto, which first delighted the eye and then delighted the palate—truly exquisite. Among the main courses, we indulged in the ossobuco and the braised beef in Barolo wine, both accompanied by excellent polenta. The first course, rich in meat, with just the right amount of fat and sinew, and excellent marrow, demonstrates the will and skillful search for the finest ingredients, which, combined with proper cooking, made this dish a must-try. The second course, soft and flavorful, with its cooking juices, intoxicated the palate. To finish, the dessert menu is charmingly written on the back of a classic cardboard tray, confirming the family-friendly atmosphere that pervades the place. We wanted to try the QCS digestif semifreddo and the saffron panna cotta. The first course is served with a jug containing the orange zest and herb liqueur that lends its name to the dessert over which it is poured, produced by a small local distillery. N.B.: It's also excellent drunk cold on its own!
The second course, perfect in its simplicity, really highlights the flavor of the spice, truly sublime in both density and intensity.
The wine list is quite extensive, not banal, and very regional.
In the entrance hall, opposite the bar, a wall displays some very interesting local products and spirits. We'd define the restaurant as a simple niche of good taste and local tradition. Excellent, we'll definitely be back!

Avevo adocchiato questo posto quasi tre anni fa: molto grazioso, sul lungolago di Laveno, con un menù con piatti molto locali e ben serviti. Ci sono effettivamente stata due volte nelle ultime settimane e le aspettative sul locale visto da fuori sono state confermate una volta seduti al tavolo: tutto ottimo! Pasta fresca fatta in casa, pesce di lago, formaggi degli alpeggi. Piatti semplici, ma rivisitati con sapori e odori un po' speciali.
Con un bonus assoluto: la cortesia dello staff. Oggi ero a pranzo con altre 5 persone della mia famiglia, alcuni dei quali hanno avuto un mostruoso ritardo di 40 minuti sulla prenotazione.

In un piccolo paese sul lago dove non è sempre tutto aperto e ci sono centinaia di turisti.
Praticamente l'incubo di qualsiasi cucina.
E loro sono stati gentilissimi e professionalissimi.
Tornerò di sicuro, magari senza la mia famiglia :)
P.S.: il locale non è molto grande. Specie nei weekend e nei festivi è consigliatissima la prenotazione. Il personale si fa davvero in quattro per ospitare e sfamare tutti, ma (saggiamente) non stipano all'interno le persone all'infinito.
