A meeting between Cracking Art, Nature and Fine Wines
The Montecavallo Castle, perched on the hill of Vigliano Biellese, is a true jewel that combines contemporary art, nature and winemaking tradition in a unique experience. The Cracking Art exhibition is one of the most fascinating aspects of this visit: the colorful animal sculptures, made of recycled plastic, integrate perfectly with the surrounding landscape, creating a vibrant dialogue between art and nature. Walking outside the castle, among manicured gardens and vineyards that extend as far as the eye can see, you find yourself immersed in a visual and sensorial journey that stimulates thought about sustainability and the relationship between man and the environment.
The visit focused on the exterior of the castle and the historic cellars, without entering the interior of the building. The charm of the place, however, does not lose intensity: the woods and vineyards that embrace the castle contribute to creating a relaxing, almost fairy-tale atmosphere. Every corner of the external path is enriched by works of art that stand out for their bright colours, in stark contrast with the sober and ancient tones of the stone walls.
The tour of the castle cellars was the real highlight. The cellars, with their vaulted ceilings and ancient barrels, tell a long story of winemaking tradition. The tasting was dedicated entirely to the wines produced on site: a journey through different labels that represent the quality and passion of the castle's wine production. From light and floral whites to full-bodied and structured reds, each tasting was accompanied by detailed explanations on the winemaking techniques and organoleptic characteristics of the wines.
However, although the wine experience was undoubtedly of a high standard, I felt the lack of a more substantial gastronomic accompaniment. The tastings offered were limited to a few bites of bread and a couple of local cheeses, leaving a bit of desire for a greater culinary variety that could further enhance the wines being tasted.
Ultimately, the Montecavallo Castle offers an experience that goes beyond a simple tourist visit: it is an immersion in natural and artistic beauty, enriched by the discovery of excellent wines that tell the story and culture of the area. I recommend visiting on a sunny day, when the colors of the Cracking Art shine at their maximum and the panorama of the vineyards opens up in all its majesty. A place where the past and present blend in harmony, offering a pleasant and stimulating day, perfect for those who love art, good wine and breathtaking landscapes.
