Castello dell'Ettore In Apice

Entering this Norman castle was a thrill, considering that the town of Apice was razed to the ground 45 years ago, in 1980. It has been reborn with an excellent renovation. During this period, the castle hosts Christmas markets, with traditional products, masks, mimes, bagpipers, and more. A journey into the past and present. ❤️🇮🇪❤️

I went to see the Christmas market initiative, and I have to say it was very nice and had a very magical atmosphere. I recommend it.

Nice place, but the courtesy of some security personnel and the ticket office staff could be improved, as well as a lack of tact and availability towards people with reduced mobility.

A wonderful experience. The lights, Christmas decorations, and background music were meticulously curated. There were many stalls, few with cheap items, but most with quality, handcrafted items, including items made from recycled materials, and a variety of very cute Christmas items. Not very wheelchair-friendly. Recommended for families with children three years and older. Parking was poorly organized and signage was sparse. Parking is on the street and free. There's a ten-minute wait to board the shuttle on the way there and a fifteen-minute wait on the way back. The castle entrance and the route inside are well-marked and organized. The shuttle and castle price are reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful...to visit it you need to take a shuttle in Piazza della Libertà at the top there is the ticket office the cost is 2 euros return. The castle is full of lights and artists who put on little shows, really very beautiful.

You can get there by shuttle where there is the refreshment point "Il Punto" good price 2 Euro per person return the castle was set up in a nice way good organization but at least for the time I was there or Better more or less 12.30/17 they did not put on any show and honestly if I pay an entrance I expect something of the sort as I find it absurd to pay two pastries 5.50 really absurd instead before the entrance after the cash desks there are many stands where the prices are acceptable

The recently restored Castello dell'Ettore (1993-2015) stands as a veritable open-air museum, framing the charming village of Apice Vecchia, often called the "Pompeii of the 20th century." Expert management has converted some rooms for receptions and events, ensuring a unique atmosphere, while others have been preserved in their traditional historic appearance. Outside, along the walls, ancient structures uncovered during the restoration are clearly visible, further enhancing the experience. The site also houses a Museum of Contemporary and Rural Art, with the option of fascinating guided tours of the ghost town, making it an unmissable place for its history and charm.

The Christmas theme and the Christmas markets in the castle and in the ghost town are beautiful.
