Calling it a bar or something else seems reductive. A historic Florentine establishment in one of the most beautiful squares in the world.
Excellent pastries, enjoyed at the counter or in the dining room.
Coffee and other treats live up to expectations.
Fast service and friendly staff.
The "Florentine" coffee at the counter is highly appreciated, at €1 for all Florentines and the surrounding area.
Unfortunately, as of May 1st, the "Florentine Coffee" initiative has been discontinued.

This restaurant is more than just a chocolate shop and deserves an In depth overview of my experience here.
For those of you who would rather read a short summary, look no further for this place is fantastic in setting, service and quality of food. You’ll want to lick your plate clean for every ingredient stands out and mixes well with eachother. This place takes your big bucks for a bigger bang!
And now, for those of you that can stick around a little while longer, let me take you on a journey.
I’ve travelled Italy from Rome to Genoa and everything in between. Firenze always held a special place in my heart since I was going enough to remember and thus I saved it for last on my travel itinerary and I’m glad I did because nothing could top my experience here and this restaurant/cafe is the cherry on top.
We walked in and were greeted by a friendly waitstaff. The place inside is an absolute work of art and feels like you’re in a art gallery/museum with a pseudo Barbie twist. We were walked to a cute little table in the corner by the window that gave a great view of the place. I really admired the paintings, china cabinet, decorations all the way to their boutique styled bathrooms.
The waiter brought absolutely delicious water on request (8€) and served it in a very church manner. The menus were a eye catching pink colour and the prices inside while high, spoke to me and told me to trust them and thus I did. While looking through we were served chips, bread, olive oil and balsamic vingedar. I also took a chance on their pricey 12€ drink called Tropic Thunder and was absolutely transported to another dimension. Like the movie of the same name, this drink mixed ingredients that don’t sound like they will mix well and absolutely blew me away.
Once the waiter returned to grab our order, I ordered the Sea Bream and my partner ordered the Spaghetti alla guitar with basil mussels, yellow cherry tomato cream and bottarga. I must say that both of their presentations were absolutely stunning and they tasted even better than they looked.
The fish was paired with carmelized onions, a heated mayonnaise bed (that I never thought would taste the way it did) and some raddish with some garnish. This is where I understood that only a master chef can make such ingredients blend so well with one another because I never thought I would pair fish with carmelized onions as that to a westerner is just a burger topping. The raddish on the other hand was another example of how a true artist can blend flavours together as I only thought those go in salads and butter smeared baguettes.
Now the spaghetti with mussels, been there done that, but this yellow cherry tomato cream and bottarga with basil garnish was fantastic. My partner who is not only picky, but also a great cook was humbled and admitted that she can’t even make this and Ofcourse I agree. As great as she is, only a true connoisseur of the culinary arts can craft a well balanced dish so well and my oh my they did.
To finish off we skipped dessert unfortunately, but the waiter recommended a chocolate drizzled macchiato/cappuccino fusion thingy based off of my request of a great coffee because to my surprise no cafe in Rome, Tuscany, Pisa, La Spezia, Cinque Terre or Genoa impressed me with their coffee and that was disappointing as I always thought Italians knew their coffee. This did not disappoint at all. My partner and I were wide eyed with disbelief at how good this was. Also it was paired with a small chocolate .
In the end, I was most impressed with their food and felt happy to experience such fine Italian food after constant dissatisfaction of the food here. I was of the mind that Canadian Italian food was the best until this restaurant proved me wrong. Skip all the tourist trap - frozen pasta restaurants and spend your hard earned money at a place that will not disappoint you.
