I've lived on Via delle Ruote for a year and a half, and I can say it without exaggeration: I'm one of the luckiest people in the world, because I live on Rainer's street. Rainer isn't just a pastry shop or a bakery: it's a place out of the ordinary. The prices aren't the lowest, that's true, but for the first time they're perfectly aligned with the quality, which is exceptional, rare, and evident from the first bite. Cakes, bread, coffee, pastries, croissants: everything, absolutely everything, is meticulously crafted. The butter is clearly noticeable, and it's of the highest quality. The preparations are rich but never cloying, balanced, clean, and incredibly delicious. You finish a pastry and you're not weighed down, you're just happy. It's one of those places that changes your day, and living literally steps away from such a place is an enormous privilege. Rainer has become a staple, a certainty. A level rarely seen in Florence (and beyond).

An excellent breakfast in a café off the beaten path, where the pastry chef and staff are distinguished by their courtesy and speed. The custard sphere is delicious and well-executed; a touch of lemon or vanilla would have further enriched it, making it lighter and more vibrant on the palate. The Pan Suisse is impeccable: fragrant, well-flavored, and perfectly balanced. The place, though small, exudes a welcoming atmosphere. Recommended for those who want to break away from the usual puff pastry options: the selection is varied and interesting. A place to keep in mind, one you'll happily return to again and again.
