Cafaggi In Firenze

Abbiamo scoperto questo posto per caso : non è uno dei tanti locali “ fighetti “ e pretenziosi,per la maggior parte trappole per turisti, che proliferano a Firenze ma un locale tradizionale sia nell’ arredo che nel menù che offre un ampia scelta di piatti tipici toscani che cucinano in modo eccellente e in porzioni abbondanti : abbiamo mangiato carciofi fritti deliziosamente croccanti e non unti ,pici all’ aglione e e pappardelle ottimi , Fiorentina tenerissima e saporita, buoni i dessert e i contorni Sottolineo inoltre la gentilezza ,premurosita’ e professionalità del servizio Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo Unico rammarico : non aver potuto assaggiare tutto per mancanza di spazio nella pancia! Poco male : al prossimo soggiorno a Firenze torneremo sicuramente!

We were recommended to visit this place, and it actually was great! It’s a calm, charming spot with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The waitress were kind and attentive, creating such a pleasant and relaxed vibe throughout the whole meal. Service was impressively quick, and the staff paid great attention to detail, whether it was adding extra cheese, oil, or anything else you needed. Empty plates were immediately carried away, which kept the table tidy and added to the overall experience. For our meal, we ordered pasta with cod(?) and risotto with artichoke as our main dishes, and the local specialty, Tripotto, to share. Tripotto is a fancier version of lampredotto, which are tender, well-cooked cow intestines. It was surprisingly soft and flavorfull! Every dish was absolutely comforting and full of incredible flavours. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was light and delightful, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommended!

If you want cuisine and places to have a good time this is the right place. The cuisine is refined and typical. Forget appearances, come in and eat. We also returned the following evening. Price normal.

Very dated place with a slightly sad atmosphere. Overall good cuisine but certainly nothing particularly memorable. Without infamy or praise.

There’s something fundamentally, quintessentially *honest* about Cafaggi. It’s a family run restaurant in the heart of Florence - think on that. I came here a lot in the mid-1990s, and having returned in 2024, it’s still the same people running the dining room, just a little older as we all are - though the area all around continues to change. You can see immediately that Cafaggi is run as a *family* thing. And given that, they stick with it, good day or bad day, thick and thin. They won’t smile and fawn because they only want your tourist money; no, it’s obvious they fundamentally respect what they do and take great professional pride, based on a very long tradition. Ignore the 1970s decor and the bright lights if they grate on you - look on it like the roadside restaurant you managed to stumble across, and had one of your best meals ever, because it was the one you needed the most. You’ll get fed well, you won’t leave hungry, it won’t cost you “an eye from your head”, as the Italians say. Long may Cafaggi, as I know it, continue.
