The prices are affordable even though the food tastes expensive because portions were tiny. The food was great (I recommend the starter meatball for €2.50 - best I've ever had) , but the portions small at best. An €18 meatball dish came with a grand total of 3 meatballs, and the lasagne had so much cheese that it tasted nore like mac & cheese. The only dish that approached 'filling' was the spaghetti with shrimp. Very disappointing.

The shrimp and red sauce pasta was delicious, with a distinct seafood flavor. The pesto fettuccine was a bit too wet. The tomato-braised octopus is not recommended; the octopus was overcooked and lost its chewy texture, becoming mushy.
The cod sauce (pasta) is worth trying; it has an interesting flavor.
Although the wine list is for a single bottle, you can ask for a glass.
We went in early April 2026 on a Saturday without a reservation. We arrived at 6:30 PM, and they said we could dine until 8:30 PM.
I visited Venice hoping to taste authentic squid ink pasta, and it exceeded my expectations. The fresh sauce had a perfect balance, and I enjoyed it thoroughly from start to finish.
The marinated sardines I had as an appetizer were also delicious.
Furthermore, the dry white wine they recommended paired perfectly with the food. I looked up the wine label from the staff and found out it's available in Japan, which gives me something to look forward to when I return home.
Thank you for a wonderful memory.

A wonderful experience. They found us a table right away, even without a reservation. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was fabulous. The meatballs in tomato sauce were AMAZING. Congratulations!

Meatballs of Life: I can't judge the dishes on the menu, but the famous meatballs are definitely worth a stop. Idyllic.

In Venice, it's hard for a restaurant not to be labeled "tourist." The difference lies in the interpretation of this term.
Is it the touristy kind you're happy for tourists to try, and that makes you proud to be Italian, or is it the touristy kind you'd deny the opportunity to share our cuisine?
Well, at Cà d'Oro alla Vedova, I'm more inclined to attribute it to the former type.
I ate well, starting with some delicious fried meatballs, large, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
They're the "grandmother's" kind, so bready, with a delicate garlic flavor that makes them very flavorful.
At a very fair price (considering the size) of €2.50 each.
The spaghetti with clams was also made to perfection, with a good al dente pasta and plenty of garlic. The best spaghetti with clams I've ever eaten? No, but they do the trick.
The squid ink bavette wasn't bad either, though perhaps a little bland and vaguely overcooked. Overall, though, it was pleasant.
The first courses were around €18, in line with Venetian prices for the same product category and location.
The service was very friendly and fast.
I found the place quite charming, and I liked it, with its small wooden tables where you have to fight to get into position.
Would I recommend it? For a quiet dinner, with simple dishes prepared with care, yes. Without any particular expectations, but with the desire to enjoy an unpretentious dinner.
