This restaurant has a long history, and my experience truly lived up to its reputation: the best Florentine steak I've ever eaten! The other dishes were also very thoughtful and attentive. The waiters carefully reminded us of portion sizes, and every detail of the service was meticulously attended to. Even though this is a popular restaurant that requires advance reservations, they didn't skimp on service! I believe their business will continue to thrive! 👍

The steak was served on a cold plate!
The reputation and price were commensurate; the steak itself lacked the texture of well-done steak. It was only served with plain salt, and the prosciutto wasn't as fragrant as what you'd find at a roadside stall. Overall, quite disappointing.
The olive oil and House wine served with the bread were actually better.

My wife and I had Buca Lapi on our must-visit list for our recent trip to Florence. We weren't disappoionted.
We came for the bistecca, prepared to order the serving for two. Thankfully, our server recommended splitting the single serving. It was still plenty for both of us, and absolutely delicious. People complaining about it being under seasoned need to understand that the meat is traditionally meant to be salted at the table.
We split an order of spinach gnocchi with butter and sage, and had roast potatoes and spinach with garlic and olive oil for the sides with our bistecca. Everything was incredible, and cooked to perfection. I added a half-bottle of the Peppoli chiante for myself. The meringato topped off an absolutely wonderful meal.
The decor was also charming. What you don't notice in the photos online is the little notes and graffiti on the walls and lampshades. None of it is offensive, and just added to the atmosphere.
We were one of the first diners there that night, and the restaurant filled up quickly so reservations are absolutely necessary. We were there in the off season, so we were able to make reservations the day before.

A definite stop whenever I return to Florence.
The menu is very comprehensive, but I go there for the meat.
Everything is delicious, and as always, the staff is friendly and witty.
Maybe... I say... maybe it's gotten a little pricey.

Sorry to report this is not as good as it used to be
We paid a lot of money for a meal that was a 6/7
There are so many new and old restaurants who serve a better meal at a better price. We felt rushed and our waiter made us feel like he was doing us a favor serving us
