I can’t remember the last time I was sad that a meal had finished, the food was that good!
The restaurant has a wonderful setting covered in vintage tourism posters from all over the world, and as you walk down the stairs you walk past the open kitchen where you can see the chefs at work.
The atmosphere is calm and even with a full restaurant it wasn’t loud.
The service was impeccable, with the waiting staff on hand to help with menu recommendations and the appropriate wine to complement your dish choices.
We went for three pasta dishes, the spinach gnocchi with sage and butter, the cannelloni ‘buca lapi’, and the fettuccine with veal ragu.
They were all spectacular with the veal fettuccine the stand out dish for me.
The menu offers a variety of Tuscan and Florentine dishes so what ever you choose you’re in for a great experience!

The service was excellent and the meal was decent during my visit to Florence. The wine options were particularly impressive. The food was good and I would rank it among my top 20 restaurants, although it is difficult to break the top 10 with so many great options in Florence.

Really good quality bistecca alla Fiorentina (t-bone steak), brilliant hand made pasta, we also had a fantastic salad and the service was great.

Two people had dinner together. Steak for two, 140 euros. I was going to order salad and spinach as a side, but at the strong recommendation of the manager, I chose roasted potatoes and spinach. I paid 186 euros for two sides + two glasses of house wine + cantucci and vinsanto.
I was slightly disappointed to see that foreign guests were given seats close to the entrance stairs and kitchen, while locals were shown to larger seats inside. I heard the inner hall was beautifully decorated, but I didn't get to see it. After ordering, they gave me a plate of Ribollita with bread, which I enjoyed.
Soon after, another server brought sides and steak, and he only took the tenderloin part off the bone and gave it to me, then handed the sirloin part to my companion and left. The meat near the bone was slightly cold.
It seems worth experiencing it at least once. I don't think I'll go again.

Superb. Didn’t go for the stake but the chicken was highly recommended and the pasta first course was nice and light. Desert was the special, ricotta with strawberry’s, and it could literally be the best dish I’ve had in Florence.

We have been going to Florence since 1977, and this was our first- but definitely not our last -time to eat at Buca Lipa. You are treated special from the time you make your reservations to when you cheerfully pay your bill. Everything was outstanding. Service without fault and then an incredible steak.
Plus I was treated to a special slice of chocolate birthday treat!

Amazing restaurant. Beautiful cosy atmosphere and food to die for. The pasta was some of thr best i had as well as the Fiorentina steak. I was mot crazy with the desserts.

Firstly, the maitre’d was very accommodating moving us from outside the main dining room to the more lively and picturesque dining room. Secondly, our server was very patient with us because we were still waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. As for the food nothing really memorable. Ribolita was ok and the bistecca alla Fiorentina was not of the Chianina breed but rather of the Marchigiana breed??? Not bad but I was really expecting the former. Quite the price tag but not that expensive. Although they have this chocolate cake to die for!
