After dinner, returning to the San Martino inn we wanted a bitter, taste Giovanna's amaro made by her which is crazy 😜

A unique place of its kind, as are the owners, Carlo and Giovanna, two people who know how to welcome you and make you feel at home. They prepare traditional dishes and they are all baked, delicious. If you don't want to be disappointed, go there.

Un bellissimo locale, nei suggestivi Sassi di Matera, cucina fantastica e soprattutto unica. Carlo e Giovanna, sono davvero fantastici, cordiali e unici. Lo consiglio a tutti.

A beautiful place, in the suggestive Sassi of Matera, the food prepared by Giovanna is unique, fantastic and delicious. Carlo is fantastic. If you come to Matera, stop by Carlo and Giovanna and you will feel at home.

A place like few others, everything is homemade from starter to dessert. A good atmosphere, Carlo offered us the digestive, we ate for a very reasonable price. This place deserves to be included in the backpacker's guide.

Nice little hostel on a discreet street in Matera. We enter and there is a choice on the plate from a buffet of several Italian dishes prepared by two adorable locals!

We came across this typical family-run restaurant, attracted by the authentic and welcoming atmosphere. Mrs. Giovanna, kind and helpful, guides you in choosing the dishes at the counter. With 20 euros you receive a single dish in which three courses of your choice are served, and Altamura bread is included, with no cover charge. I really liked the idea: there is a simplicity that makes you feel at home. However, I have to be honest, the food did not leave its mark. I expected more flavor and character from the dishes, given the promise of a “homemade” experience. Furthermore, the quality-price ratio seemed a little unbalanced to me: 20 euros for a single dish with three tastings seemed excessive to me. Another negative detail was the coffee, unfortunately burnt, which I do not recommend. Overall, it's a nice experience for those looking for a genuine environment, but I can't say that the food lived up to expectations.
