The lady and gentleman were so lovely. Delicious food, a wonderfully homey atmosphere. A cat even roamed the bar. We felt right at home. We wholeheartedly recommend it ❤️❤️

Giovanna and Carlo are warm and wonderful people. The family atmosphere, their big hearts, and the stories Carlo tells make you want to keep your promise to go on a campervan vacation with them next time. The food is delicious. It's a must-see when in Matera.

This has to be my favorite dining experience in Matera. I wanted to stop for a glass of wine and something small to munch on. They do not speak english and we know very little Italian so we did our best to order. Everything is homemade in one of those cave houses in Matera. I got a stew with meat and potatoes in it and we got some of the handmade pasta and some wine. It was all incredible and the bread that went with it was so tasty. The owners were a sweet married couple that tried to laugh and joke with us despite not being able to communicate easily. I can’t recommend this enough if you want a super authentic experience. 10/10

The dishes were heated in the microwave, it was not the season, which is probably why they were not the freshest.

Found this place by chance!!! Small and welcoming... the owner, Giovanna, is a friendly person... but above all, an essential cook... there's no printed menu... you come in, take a seat, and then go to her and she explains the dishes to you... extraordinary food... it feels like being at grandma's house... made with excellent raw ingredients... the two of us had truffle gnocchi, lasagna, truffle meatballs, Matera focaccia, and meatballs in tomato sauce... everything delicious! Good portions... the only flaw is the price... but unfortunately in Matera the prices are quite high... NB... they don't do fried food.

Fantastic food and great atmosphere at this cantina. Set menu and most things €10 a plate. Home cooked food and highly recommend the local wine and dessert too. Best food we’ve had in a month of travelling through this gorgeous country.
