Homemade food baked in the oven, the same day in the morning. Giovanna, the cook, and Carlo, her husband, are charming. They guided us a lot when visiting the city. The food, native, authentic and delicious. They also make their own primitive wine, which was very good.

Family environment. Friendly and welcoming. Excellent traditional food. You order at the counter after the hostess has described what she has prepared and then it is served to you at the table. We took two mixed ones that we exchanged. Great food. I highly recommend.

Typical canteen where the home cooking is wonderful! I ate like at my grandmother's and for anyone who wants to know the real typical Italian cuisine, it's here and nowhere else! Amazing !

A cellar in the heart of the Sassi di Matera. We found it by chance and we had such a good time that we would never have left! The owner of the house and the kitchen, Giovanna, makes excellent traditional home cooking. There is the possibility of taking different dishes at the counter or tasting 3 dishes for €18, a price that also includes two glasses of house red wine. Her husband, Carlo, is like his wife, a born restaurateur. They both love their jobs and are very professional. Not going to eat at their place is a mortal sin! Highly recommended!

The Ciddar was the cellar where men gathered, after the day's work, to drink wine together. Giovanna is an excellent cook, we tried almost everything on the menu, everything cooked in the oven, nothing had been fried. Excellent are the orecchiette in terracotta, the peppers and aubergines with vegetarian filling, the friggitelli, the meatballs in tomato sauce. At the exit, Spillo, a beautiful cat with a bow tie, welcomed us. If you meet him, let him in, he's at home.

Ho letto le recensioni negative… datate… beh, noi non abbiamo trovato nulla di quello che ho letto, anzi!
Locale tipicissimo (era una cantina dei sassi) con varia scelta…
È vero che scaldano, ma NON a microonde… Ziti, polpette e le patate con salsiccia e funghi buonissimi!!!
Il servizio non è da ristorante stellato, ma familiare quindi meglio!

Nel cuore dei sassi, questo locale si caratterizza per una cucina tipicamente lucana che non eccelle nel gusto, sebbene presenti dei piatti molto particolari. Buoni i dolci e molto disponibile il personale. Peccato che i peperoni cruschi vengano fatti solo al forno e non fritti, come richiede la tradizione,
