We came here for dinner and ordered the steamed pork dumplings (which are the soup dumplings but they didn’t have soup like traditional ones do - still tasted good though!), wonton soup, chicken fried rice, sweet and sour pork ribs and noodles with beef. We ordered those dishes to share for two people and found that the portion sizes were on the smaller end. Perhaps each dish is portioned for one person. Overall the food was quite tasty and the service was quick! We walked in on a Saturday night at opening (7pm) and there wasn’t a wait!

When I went there the atmosphere was very fancy feeling and I got a table almost immediately and the food was some of best I had. But the service did take some time. Other than that no complaints

A wonderful experience that's definitely worth a try, especially in a Chinese cuisine landscape that's unfortunately so limited to the same old dishes, which, among other things, are generally prepared very poorly.
In this case, the choice to present dishes representative of different regions of China, which extends well beyond Canton, is certainly commendable. In fact, I focused on four dishes from different regions.
My journey began in FUJIAN, a region specializing in soups, where I enjoyed an excellent clam and ginger soup. The flavors were bold and well-balanced.
Straight from the heart of GUANGDONG, the cradle of Cantonese cuisine, my journey continued with scallop and shrimp balls, where, however, the scallop was overshadowed by the shrimp. I also found the accompanying sauce to be rather bland.
We then move on to the dish of the day, from the inland region of ANHUI, a mountain cuisine: a duck from the three kingdoms of the great strategist Cao Cao: fried duck with ginger, leeks, and spring onions. Excellent ingredients, superb frying, and a superb balance of flavors.
I finished the dinner with a dish from the coastal region of Zhejiang, a salted crème caramel with clams, which I found to be well-crafted and certainly original.
Our lunch was accompanied by a fantastic 2022 Pino Nero by Franz Haas, which we chose from a more than excellent wine list. The service was excellent, with excellent knowledge and explanations of the dishes, but the timing with which they were brought to the table could be improved.

Bon Wei Milan: Chinese Luxury Worth the (Pricey) Price.
The Bon Wei Chinese Restaurant in Milan presents itself as a true destination for those seeking a fine Chinese dining experience. Intrigued (but not deterred) by the restaurant's Michelin-starred listing, we immediately noticed the restaurant's dedication to creating a unique atmosphere.
The setting is elegant and welcoming, with lighting and décor that lend the entire place a truly evocative atmosphere. It's immediately clear that this is no ordinary Chinese restaurant.
The true highlight of the Bon Wei is, without a doubt, the service. The staff is impeccably professional, staffed by waiters who are not only experts, but also know the menu by heart and are ready to guide guests through their gastronomic journey with expert recommendations. Their attentiveness and expertise are its true strength.
The cuisine, exquisitely Chinese, is presented through a well-structured menu, which divides typical dishes by region, allowing you to explore different traditions. The food is excellent overall: the ingredients are excellent and the cooking is professional and flawless, with attention to every detail. It should be noted that the portions are not particularly generous, a detail that is normal for a restaurant of this caliber. The only weakness I found is the plating, which doesn't always live up to the intrinsic quality of the dish.
For lovers of fine wine, the wine cellar is remarkably well-stocked, ranging authoritatively from Italian, French, Spanish, and even Californian wines, offering pairings worthy of the culinary offerings.
Of course, all this quality comes at a price. Bon Wei is positioned in the high-end segment, halfway between a Michelin-starred restaurant and a very high-end establishment. It's not an experience for everyone, but the price is justified by the level of service and the quality of the ingredients.
Final rating: 4 out of 5. An excellent and highly recommended dining experience, which would deserve the top spot if only a little improvement in the aesthetics of the dishes.

During my weekday lunch break, I don't understand the €5 cover charge, nor the €12 for three almost-frozen mochi. The Vietnamese rolls are excellent, and the stir-fried rice with vegetables is good. I won't be returning because of the exaggerated prices.
