Bistrot Bar del Tribunale In Montepulciano

We visited the Christmas markets and decided to eat something warm as it was quite cold. We entered the Bistrot and took a seat at a table near the entrance door.....unhealthy idea given that every person who entered was a breath of fresh air. However, the dishes were very good even if not cheap but in the historic center that's okay. The thing that surprised us was when it came time to pay, we spent €104.40, four first courses, four desserts, a bottle of wine and a bottle of water...we asked to divide it by two and the division was surgical, €52.20 per couple. Not even 40 cents off. This struck us negatively... they didn't make a good impression.

The place is very affordable but provides a good price quality - we were happy with the meal. Babychair that was provided, even if we were the only ones using one, was broken to the extend it was unusable. Some others comment on hidden charges, this is true - I got alarmed when the waitress quickly got rid of the detailed bill once I got my card out, I asked and got it back and to be honest we weren't really upset with the price as the food was good, but it's quite unnecessary. We had the ravioli, pork knuckle, grilled vegetables with a house wine.

Excellent bistro in the village of Montepulciano, close to the main attractions of the village, welcoming place and friendly, young and polite staff, the food is quite good and the coffee is excellent, the only two negative notes, they only have one high chair for children so if there are the more children we have to argue about it 😅 and the bathroom is a little too small, we are in 2024 almost 2025 and they still haven't equipped themselves with a changing table to change children (a flaw of many local places) to the rest all perfect.

We liked the warm & cosy ambience and fun pseudo-classical artworks on the walls! This place is simple but has good service. They are not very gluten-free aware so I just had a mushroom and chickpea soup, really delicious - while my partner had a pinsa (bread pizza) with truffles, beef, and mushroom topping, whiich he also liked. We had 2 x 2 glasses of local Nobile wine - very good - and were very impressed that for both pourings, by the glass, they opened a completely new bottle. I mistakenly chose a Delizia Limone dessert without checking, thinking it was a mousse, but it was a cakey dessert covered in lemon cream - the cream was yummy but I couldn’t eat the cake because not gluten free. My mistake not theirs, but when I explained why I didn’t eat it, they refused to let us pay for it, molto gentile, mille grazie! It’s a nice lttle laidback corner, we recommend.

Very good pici al ragu and excellent pinse. Good service, special mention for Tarek, welcoming and smiling.

Stopped here for lunch on a tour. Pleasant surprise. Ragu Chianino and Cacio e Pepe were both very nice.

Food took 30 minutes, bruschetta and carpacio 🙄

If you park at P1 and arrive at this restaurant, know that you have been spared from natural selection (what a climb!). Averagely fast service, very courteous waiters. We spent around fifty euros for a generous platter and two first courses, generous portions, everything was really excellent, even the wine! I'm sorry to have read other bad reviews: some resent the staff, some the menu with limited courses, some the small portions... We had a very good time and we want to point this out, also because in Montepulciano we have always had terrible experiences in other places, that this one is a five star in comparison.

Welcoming atmosphere and friendly, polite staff. Right portions. Excellent quality. Prices in line with quality and quantity. We brushed the dishes and returned them perfectly clean!

Completely underrated restaurant. The owner is Sicilian and runs the restaurant with passion. Very good food, excellent wine selection and great service. However, the toilets could be cleaner.
