I've been to this historic restaurant many times, even with friends. What can I say about the pros and cons? Sandwiches: good, and a wide selection. Prices are a bit high. The fries are definitely not up to par with the reputation and price. A "gourmet" sandwich at that price deserves fresh, rustic fries, not industrially packaged frozen fries. Main courses: good, BUT prices are absolutely high, and especially if I pay €18-23 for a slice of steak, I expect a side of vegetables to be included and not €5-6 for two baked potatoes or two grilled courgettes. I pay €29-30 for a main course in a restaurant with a different cover charge and service charge. This isn't a bad thing; in fact, it's a place I'd continue to frequent and recommend, but I get the impression that the awareness of the always-booked tables and the reputation (perhaps more linked to lack of competition than true excellence) has caused the prices to rise a bit compared to what's on offer. Table service is a bit cold and distant, especially for a simple establishment. Basically, you're going to a pub but paying the same as a restaurant. That's fine, if the customer likes it...and evidently it is, given that it's always busy. If I remember correctly, there's a double shift, and reservations are absolutely mandatory.

We stopped for lunch and opted for the fixed-price menu with a burger, a side of fries, water, and coffee. The sandwich was truly delicious—you could clearly taste the quality of the meat—and it came with a generous portion of fries. We were truly full! Excellent value. A positive note for the staff: we were with our baby, just a few months old, and they had us sit in a convenient spot for the stroller. They also showered him with smiles and attention (which are absolutely unnecessary, but it's nice when a child isn't considered a serial nuisance). I truly appreciate their kindness and sweetness.
