Trecca - Cucina di Mercato

07/04/2024: We went on the recommendation of a taxi driver, who said that the restaurant is very popular among Romans, as it is very traditional cuisine, and not aimed at tourists. The food really is excellent. I ordered a L'Amatriciana and it was the best pasta I had in Rome. Very crispy and delicious bacon. Reservations are mandatory, as the restaurant is not very big and is always full. The day before we tried to go without a reservation and it wasn't possible, even though we arrived at opening time.
05/04/2024: My absolute favorite dining experience in Rome, Italy. They speak Italian, the menu is in italian, and I wasn't sure what I was getting. The server directed me a bit. I was going to order just a something like Cesar salad (which I didn't really see in Italy and I don't think they had it), but I ended up with the most amazing Roman artichoke, Vignarola and the husband got Bucatini Alla Matticiana for his dish. I will come back to Rome for this experience. Valerio, I'm not sure if he'e the owner, but he feels like it. He's amazing and engaging and speaks french and italian and we were able to navigate with this. Really, you are missing out if you don't make your way 3.5 miles from the tourist area and hit this little gem.
