18/11/2025: The Locanda degli Artisti in Iseo stands out immediately for its warm and characteristic atmosphere, where references to Balkan tradition are elegantly present, without ever being overbearing. The convivial atmosphere and attention to detail make the evening enjoyable even before the dishes arrive at the table.
The Balkan appetizer is a rich and compelling introduction to Southeastern European cuisine.
The dish features distinct, bold yet well-balanced flavors:
• typical cured meats and bold cheeses,
• spicy sauces and spreads reminiscent of traditional recipes,
• carefully prepared marinated vegetables,
• warm bread or pita bread that perfectly complements the meal.
The whole is harmonious: each element is designed to interact with the others, offering a varied and satisfying taste experience. It's a generous appetizer, ideal for sharing and the perfect way to immerse yourself in Balkan cuisine.
ćevapčići are the true heart of the meal, and at Locanda degli Artisti they are served with great respect for tradition.
The meat is expertly spiced, tender, and juicy, with that distinctive light smokiness that makes them recognizable. The cooking is precise, without overcooking or drying out, and the portion is decidedly satisfying.
The accompaniment—often with raw onions, kajmak, or ajvar depending on the evening's setting—adds an aromatic contrast that enhances the dish without overpowering it. It's a seemingly simple dish, but crafted with care and quality.
The staff stands out for their helpfulness and ability to offer advice—especially for those exploring Balkan cuisine for the first time.
The restaurant, with its artistic touches and intimate atmosphere, creates a pleasant experience that invites conversation and slow tasting.
Locanda degli Artisti in Iseo offers a complete, authentic, and carefully curated tasting experience.
The Balkan appetizer introduces traditional flavors with balance and richness, while the ćevapčići confirm the cuisine's solidity and quality.
An excellent choice for those seeking a journey through Balkan flavors right on the shores of Lake Iseo.
17/11/2025: I had a great time... I would have preferred to choose from more traditional dishes. The selection was very limited.
The cevapcici were delicious. The meat in the goulash was excellent, but I remembered the sauce differently. I've had it several times in Hungary and Romania. The appetizer was excellent. And I finally tried kaymak for the first time 😋, which I'd only heard about on Turkish soap operas.
I'll definitely be back 😊For a different lunch every now and then, I 100% recommend it.
