Besides Matera, our favorite city, Basquiat Il Ristorantino has also become our favorite restaurant. It feels like eating at your mom's house, with authentic flavors and quality ingredients. The place is welcoming and very, very cute. The highlight? The legendary Giancarlo, the owner and the soul of the place. If you're in the area, stop by and try the egg, their signature dish.

We found this place by chance, but it has turned out to be a true gem for Matera. Everything is carefully thought out, from the decor to the wine list. The food is amazing, with high-quality ingredients expertly prepared and served with great taste. The owner is a perfect host, welcoming you and making you feel at home, always making sure everything is perfect. He's kind and friendly, as is the other older gentleman in the dining room.

A very charming little place near the historic center of Matera, very welcoming, well-furnished, elegant, with an open kitchen; spotlessly clean. The main staff consists of beautiful young women, very hospitable and professional, always attentive to the needs of their customers. The chef offers cuisine with top-quality ingredients, reinterpreting traditional local dishes. The wine list is excellent. The quality/price ratio is in line with what the area offers, tending more towards the price, but the atmosphere and cleanliness make it worth it.

No está mal, pero tampoco es genial. Pasta de marisco agradable pero carbonara no es genial (sabemos que no estamos en Roma ... ). El servicio es amable sin embargo y el lugar original cambia de la experiencia “sassi”.

21/11/2025: The waitress, Lorenza, was very kind and explained the food to us. Very good, we decided to try several dishes and I was satisfied with everything! The chicory with fava beans was a really good specialty, as was the main course. I recommend going. It's a shame it's not visible if someone happens to be walking by and doesn't know, but the place is quaint. We ate under the cave, which was lovely.

04/01/2026: We stayed at this property for the weekend to visit the living nativity scene in Matera. The entire property is rustic in style, including the room, but it has all the modern conveniences (large TV, air conditioning, spacious bathroom with a new shower). Furthermore, the room is quite spacious, including a very comfortable double bed, a sofa, a desk, a large mirror, and a spacious wardrobe. The room also opens onto a very spacious private terrace, allowing you to enjoy a wonderful view of the countryside and the peace of nature. I'd like to give the cleanliness 10 out of 5 stars, but that's not possible. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and it's plentiful and tasty, whether you prefer a savory or sweet breakfast (freshly squeezed juice, various homemade desserts, cheeses and cured meats, coffee, or various herbal teas). As for the restaurant, we had lunch on the day of arrival, and I definitely recommend it. The food is good and healthy, and the quality/price ratio is excellent. I also wanted to thank the owner, who was very helpful and kind. She offers the advertised services (Wi-Fi, parking, and a high level of cleanliness) 100 percent, and her hospitality is also wonderful. For those who love nature and are willing to travel from the center of Matera, I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
23/11/2025: We found ourselves at the restaurant by chance, after visiting the Crypt of Original Sin. Mrs. Angela is a generous and friendly hostess. We ate authentic and delicious food.
