This is a VERY authentic Italian experience. It’s not touristy, not a gorgeous view, but they cook SO GOOD FOOD! It was soooo delicious, you guys have to try it!

Historic pizzeria in the historic center of Matera, Il Basilico is now also a restaurant. The place arouses several memories in me, with the welcoming and non-formal atmosphere that distinguishes it. I have always tried the pizzas and this time too I found them good. Prices are absolutely average, despite being in the historic center (Piazza San Francesco d'Assisi, right in front of the beautiful church of the same name).

Excellent restaurant, not too expensive and with many gluten-free items, including pasta. The service was very good and fast.

While in Matera, we found this restaurant in the middle of the square. Very unassuming from the outside. My husband and I decided to eat indoors. Very large restaurant and clean. Service was excellent and meal was delicious. Reasonably priced. They offer a special which includes first and second course. To take advantage of this offer, you must select from each category. I had the Crudiaiola Di Pasta Fresca which is a type of pasta called orecchiette with fresh tomato and cheese and for the second course, Veal Scaloppini. My husband had the cavatelli Funghi e Salsiccia con Mollica Croccante (Cavatelli pasta with Sausage and mushrooms) with he Pork in red sauce. We shared a dessert of cheesecake. Would recommend to others.

A simple place, but with delicious food and amazing people! They were very sweet and kind to us and our children, a beautiful and sincere welcome that I didn't expect! A hug from your affectionate Italian-Turkish family!

This restaurant is one of the best experiences I've had. We had a great selection, which was also very affordable and tasty. In fact, you could also speak German. We were really pleased to talk to you. Really super lovely and warm people <3.
