Barcaccia In Roma

Icecream is fantastic but the service is extraordenery rude. 3 € / person for servicbis too much and the waitress did not speak English. Eat from cone and do not sit in this restaurant.

Delicious affogato with a generous portion of vanilla ice cream and full-bodied espresso. We found €6 to be absolutely justified for the amount and location (right by the Spanish Steps) – especially since it's the only gelateria for miles around. We didn't try the restaurant and therefore can't comment on it.

I only give this beautiful little bar/coffee shop four stars instead of five because it is so expensive! But they have a lovely assortment of pastries, and the coffee is quite good. And it’s proximity to the Spanish steps is perfect and of course this is why it is so expensive. But it is absolutely the most expensive coffee I’ve had at a bar, instead of a table, in all of Rome. €4.50 a cappuccino! Two blocks over and two blocks down on Via della Croce is another lovely pastry bar, d’Angelo, where a cappuccino is €1.50, and also a lovely assortment of pastries. If you want a view of the bustling Spanish steps, the table outside at Barcaccia is your spot. But beware, Service at the table will be at LEAST 20% (True of any table service in Rome ) more than you’ll pay at the bar inside.

I really can’t understand why it’s got so many bad reviews! Of course it’s going to be pricey, look at its location! We had gelato there, and it was, hands-down, the best gelato we’ve ever had in Italy! And trust me, I’ve had a lot of gelato in Italy! It’s my second favorite thing to do after drinking red wine! The staff is very friendly, very helpful and very busy! Of course I wouldn’t want to eat a full meal there because I don’t want to mortgage my house 😝, but I will definitely go back for the gelato! Pricey, but very generous portions. In fact, we DID go back. My wife wanted some this time instead of stealing bites of mine ;-) We went out of our way to do it, but the gelato is THAT good!

70 euro for 3 gelatos, 2 coffees and a Fanta. Highly priced for average food. You're paying for the location more than anything else.

Stopped in spontaneously for gelato without looking at the reviews first. That was a mistake! Ordered 2 cups of gelato, mixed flavours. The taste was decent, unfortunately for $26 euros it felt like a ripoff. Listen to the reviews and find a place that doesn’t hide their prices.

I used to go around cursing inwardly after being shocked by the price of the gelato I bought... But out of all the gelatos I've tried in Rome, Florence, Siena, Orvieto, Amalfi, and Prague, this was the most delicious. First off, the portion size was the largest, and the pistachio content was incomparable. If you can feel the pistachio flavor here in over 80%, I'd say other places are only about 15%. Also, the gelato at other places felt too runny... but here, it didn't melt at all and just flowed out until I finished it. And the cone flavor here was absolutely delicious too. After trying gelato from various places with my husband, we concluded that if we ever go back to Italy, we would eat here once instead of eating at other places multiple times. Of course, 12 euros is still a bit too expensive, though.

I spontaneously decided to get some ice cream one evening and walked in here, trusting the staff. One cone, two scoops = €12. I was shocked when they showed me the price. Yes, the ice cream tasted good, and I got a cone and a cookie, but €12?! That's outrageous!

Barcaccia Caffetteria, right next to the Fontana della Barcaccia in Piazza di Spagna, is a hangout for tourists who want coffee, gelato or a light snack with a view of the Spanish Steps. Its location is central, with a panoramic view of the square, ideal for photos and relaxation after a walk in Rome. However, the tables are close together, while the service is satisfactory if it is not too crowded. The coffee and tiramisu are of average quality, nothing special compared to other Roman cafes. The prices are high due to the location. 10€ for a small gelato or coffee. I would say it is a tourist trap, but the view and its location compensate you.

This place is an absolute gem hands down one of the best ice cream spots around. The flavors hit different, super creamy and high-quality in every bite. The whole shop has a clean, cozy, and aesthetic vibe with plenty of comfortable seating. Perfect spot to chill, catch up, and treat yourself definitely worth the hype!
