A very expensive ice cream shop. Corn/2 scoops 12 euros. The mango flavor is rich, but a bit sweet afterward.

I only had a coffee at the counter but unfortunately I found myself in the classic tourist bar with exaggerated and embarrassing prices... 1.80 a coffee seems too much even for a place in Piazza di Spagna!

We followed the view and our desire to have some ice cream before continuing our visit to Piazza di Spagna. The place was very busy, and the ice cream looked very good. In fact, it was good. But, let's not fool ourselves, IT'S A BAR, NOT AN ICE CREAM PARLOR, and it's right in the Spanish Steps (a luxury shopping area). THE ICE CREAM DOESN'T HAVE THE PRICE VISIBLE ANYWHERE, NOR DOES IT APPEAR ON THE MENU, so it's advisable to ask first (which we didn't do, assuming the prices would be the usual ones in nearby ice cream shops, €4-€5). As I said, they were good, but they cost €12 each, and there were four of us... we've paid that same price for a meal for four people in other places in Rome. It's good, but very expensive. The service is a bit cold, like the ice cream; it's a bar, after all. I don't recommend it.

Barcaccia, located right next to the iconic Spanish Steps, is a must-stop if you’re in the area. While Rome is full of gelato options, the gelato here truly stands out, rich, flavorful, and crafted with quality you can taste. Yes, it’s nearly double the price of many other gelaterias we’ve tried in the city, but the prime location and consistently delicious offerings make it worthwhile.
We visited twice during our stay, and both times the service was warm and attentive. Our server was kind, helpful, and made the experience feel welcoming despite the busy tourist setting. The shaken espresso was excellent, smooth, bold, and served in a traditional espresso glass, which made it feel authentic.
As for flavors, the chocolate hazelnut and biscotti are absolute standouts and should not be missed. If you’re looking for a sweet break after exploring the Spanish Steps, Barcaccia is a spot worth indulging in.
