Baracca e Burattini is a homey and delightful atmosphere that is tucked away from the usual tourist crowds. I arrived before my other two roommates and was first seated in the bar area which was filled with locals speaking Italian and enjoying drinks. The bar area also contained a couch with chairs which was different from any other bars I’ve seen and reminded me of the cafe in the show Friends due to the resemblance. After my roommates came and the server came over, we realized we were in the wrong section since there was a separate back section for food. The back room that the server brought us to was cozy and warmly lit. The decor on the walls of the paintings felt very homey along with the brick walls: What made the atmosphere complete was the calm beach music that was played at a comfortable volume that made us feel at ease while still being able to communicate with one another. When ordering, the server was very polite and always had a warm smile on her face. What amazed us about the service was that she didn’t treat us like tourists, but just like any other person in the restaurant, even though we were the only people speaking English at the time of arrival. The food of the restaurant felt very thought out and prepared distinctly. There is a note on the menu that reads that you may need to be prepared for long waits to keep the food authentic, which shows that they care about the quality of their food. I ordered the tortellini in a creamy parmesan sauce which was decadent yet balanced. I had not eaten much before and the portion size felt perfect. The appetizer we ordered came out with our food yet strangely felt more like a dessert. It was a cheese-filled donut roll that oozed upon taking a bite. The roll was topped with arugula, honey, and balsamic. It was very different than anything I have ordered here in Italy and enjoyed trying something new. The Campari spritz that I ordered with my meal was too bitter for my taste, but that may just be my personal preference since it was my first time trying it. The Instagram account of the restaurant displays a homey atmosphere, with a slightly modern twist. The Instagram shows that the people working in the restaurant show great pride in their food. The experience overall made me appreciate the quietly elegant food culture and I would visit this restaurant again.

I loved it. It's a clean place with a good, homey atmosphere. The food is excellent and the prices are fair. The service is excellent. You can split the bill among your group, jointly or individually.
From the outside, you can't tell how big it is inside. I recommend it.

The restaurant's curious name seems to refer to an Italian expression used to describe those who suddenly abandon a regular activity or job, those who abandon home and family ties; in short, those who immediately decide on a radical change of life. It's a wonderful place, nicely decorated with old photographs and well-refrigerated. The waiters were very friendly, especially the lady, who served us very kindly. Being located away from the historic center of Bologna, all the diners were regular locals. We had tagliatelle al ragu, "al dente," and a very special dish that we really liked and recommend: "Balanzoni verdi del Baracca, with ricotta and mortadella, its cream of zucchini and Parmigiano reggiano with crispy guanciale," a type of large ravioli. We found the crispy guanciale delicious. A simple lemon sorbet was accompanied by an excellent and fluffy cheesecake. The Paulaner "alla spina" beer is very good and very well served.

We found this restaurant through The Fork and the positive reviews were totally respected. This place is located 15 minutes walk from the center. As soon as we entered we were greeted by the waiters in a very welcoming way and they immediately made us sit in a very intimate and beautiful room. The menu offers a variety of typical dishes of Bologna all very inviting. Personally we had an appetizer of mixed cold cuts accompanied by mini fried gnocchi and hot piadina, a tagliatella with ragù and some green balanzoni filled with ham served on a base of pumpkin cream and garnished with bacon (to say the least delicious) a glass of house wine, a bottle of water and two sorbets. In total with the 20% discount from The Fork we spent 56 euros. Value for money and highly recommended.

Very nice place. For the first course the balanzoni were excellent. For the second course the cotoletta alla bolognese was excellent (recommended). For the dessert the cheesecake was good.

This place was such a surprise. Doesn’t look like much from outside but the food is amazing! Out of the way but worth it.

Now a staple of my morning breakfast. You can't start the day without stopping by here, sitting on the sofa and reading the newspaper while enjoying a good coffee.

Tutti. Giovani, preparati, puntuali, attenti. Bravissimi.
In generale è un bel locale, giovane, prezzo giusti e cucina buona.
Consigliatissimo.
