Really nice staff, love that there are small maritozzi available. 4.50 for a dopio & a small pastry & if I were in the area would come back for a drink, there's loads of stuff like Cynar and Averna not just aperol or campari

Absolutely amazing! Great little family bar & restaurant, run by a very heartwarming owner (Mr Pepi)
First of all, this review will probably be the most delayed review ever.... I did it instantly on Tripadvisor, but it took me 10 years to post it here on google review. (sorry for the fussy and blurry pictures)
As said we visited Rome in september 2015 and we stayed at 66 Imperial Inn bed & breakfast (but during the past years this B&B changed owner and is now under the name ¨My Monti Place¨ ) just across the street of Bar Viminale di Pepi Maurilio.
So we popped in here at this bar just after arrival for a quick small lunch and to my surprise all the tables (except for 1) were all taken. We had a lovely tramezzino (sandwich) together with a excellent cappuccino. After leaving, I completely forgot my fake :) RayBan sunglasses and thought that I would never see them back again...wrong, Mr Pepi found them and kept it away for me, after we came back to our hotel very late in the evening, he gave them back to me...Very honest! In the following days we popped in here several times (to relax our feet from all the walking in Rome) for a nice cappuccino or a very refreshing medium beer and a nice chat with Mr. Pepi (the bar owner) when he's not to busy. On the last evening we decided to have our last diner in Rome at Bar Viminale, and what a excellent choice it was...
We started with a lovely home made bruschetta (sorry no pic of this) and for the main course I had an absolutely authentic Italian spaghetti dish and my friend had a fantastic lasagna! And for dessert; tiramisu and a cappuccino with a smile :-) Halfway our diner we had quite a surprise caused by Mr. Pepi's daughter.. Maria Elena. She decided to do some opera singing in the bar just for FUN...and oh my, what a amazing voice she has, absolutely stunning!! Even the people on the other side of the street stopped walking just to listen her singing.
We had a wonderful last evening in Rome, thanks to this lovely family who almost make you feel if you're part of their family.
Mr. Pepi (the bar/restaurant owner) is a very heartwarming man who runs his bar with sincere enthusiasm and pleasure!
If we come back to Rome, we'll most definitely come back to Bar Viminale, what a amazing place....
This is absolutely a must visit, because if you don't...well your visit to Rome will be incomplete!

Disappointing. The coffee wasn't even great; it tasted burnt. Plus, they charged me €2 for the cover charge, even though they gave me a filthy table that I had to clean myself because I was disgusted to eat there! If you're going to charge a cover charge, at least make sure the place is clean!
